well the bama game is a big one but it's not the only one... so no it doesn't all hinge on beating bama

he just needs to put a quality team on the field that looks like it's playing up to it's ability

You can thank Herbstreit for fricking up your dream. He keeps his trap shut, Les is at Michigan and Saban is in B.R. I know for a fact that Saban called to inquire about coming back before he took the Bama gig. I would have welcomed him back with open arms and open checkbook.

Michigan really does need a Michigan man, IMO.

No one game will cost any coach his job

This is true to a degree, but losing one game to the same team every year certainly can cost a coach his job.

Lsu expects to get to Atlanta. If Les prevents Lsu from getting to the SEC title game by losing to Bama every year, I certainly would want the administration to shop around.

Just ask the Gumps. Bill Curry's Bama teams improved every year, but he went 0-3 against Auburn and got canned after a 10-1 regular season.

Ok, this is not a flame, just an observation. If LSU were to lose to Bama next year, would that cost Les Miles his job? That was the argument my brother and I were having. A coworker of his is from New Orleans and goes to all the LSU games. He told my brother that if LSU didn't beat Bama and Nick Saban, he would get fired. He didn't graduate from LSU, he's just Joe Q. Fan. I know you guys can't wait to get after Bama after the no-call last year, but it seems to me that the majority of you guys are over Nick Saban and just want to win championships. I didn't see Les Miles future being based on one game. LSU is my second favorite team after Bama, and if we don't go to the SEC championship, I would pull for LSU to go. Sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to pose the question. Thanks guys.

No but if it's borderline, a win/loss against Bama will probably tip the scales either way.

The contingent that aren't over Saban, is it negative (hating him) or positive (would take him back). I know a lot of folks on here would rather not have any posts about him, and I'm sorry that I'm doing it, but I just don't see LSU fans being fixated on one particular game, yea beating Bama would get you to Atlanta, but there are other games to play as well. I guess I'm of the school of taking one game at a time.

Who gave him the opportunity to make the kind of money that he makes in this sport? Where was he when he went from being nick saban to NICK SABAN?

Do you think Gene Stallings, had he decided to come back to college coaching two years after he retired from Alabama (assuming for the moment he was young enough), would have come back to an SEC West rival of Alabama? Of course not. He understands the meaning of the word loyalty.

I can't speak for the rest of "you guys," whoever that includes, but I think a second tenure at LSU for Saban would be a pretty great thing. Is it far-fetched? Absolutely. Notice how I defined it as a "Dream."

Herbstreit is an evil bastard who uses too much hair gel. College gameday became vastly more enjoyable after his beloved Buckeyes were slaughtered twice in the NC.

I don't think the Bama game is the deciding factor. It will be the overall performance/record. But what do I know? I don't know the people running LSU.

To answer the original question -- NO.

LSU is not like some other schools that have one hated rival and all that matters is that you win that one game vs them to make or break your season.

At LSU we don't discriminate. We hate Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, UF, UGA, and UT equally.

Well I would say we do hate Bama more, but our goals as a program go far beyond just beating them.

Again, I think it could be a factor if Miles is in a borderline situation, but it won't be a major factor on its own.

i would trade the big blue straight up for head coaches. IMO they would b perfect fits at the opposing schools. les going 9-3 and occasionally beating osu would appease um fans. rich rod is completely out of his element. does not posses the athletes at um to pull of his scheme. in addition, that region is not exactly the skill athlete hotbed the south is. r rod has been VERY successful on all his stops except for michigan. its comparable to spurrier. still a good coach, but tryinh to "fun and gun" at so.car is tough.i would take a "trade" after this year. michigan will come calling bcuz r rod is done. they will go bowl less again.

JUST this? no.

sprinkle it in with the usual things that transpire every year and it could certainly be a tipping point.

i wouldn't want Rich Rod at LSU. too many question marks right now about how he runs his programs. Big Blue and WVU both under investigation?
