(1) These are the two best teams in the country. BCS got this one right, regardless of what 2/3rds of the country thinks. Bama deserves a rematch.
(2) I watched it live and the rerun, it was a slugfest of epic proportion. The only thing it proved was that our kicking, special teams are better.
(3) Don't expect a high scoring game, but we can't expect another 4 qtrs without a td.
(4) I like our chances, especially with Minter and Hilliard in the picture.
I was so drained after 11.5 that I didn't leave Ttown till Monday. I expect this game to be no different. Can't wait, see you guys in the Big Easy.

I gotta give you props, so far this thread is the most objective Bama/LSU discussion that has taken place on the SEC Rant in some time. Notice, I did say so far, it could turn at any point when a tard from either side comes in with a molotov cocktail ready to flame up the place.

Haha it almost happened, I just ignored the guy. It's fun to talk shite but people being level headed in a thread is always nice too. Did you find the game on YouTube?

I haven't looked yet, but I'll re-visit this thread when I do watch it again.

It frustrates Alabama fans. I can't imagine what it's like for LSU fans

In that game, LSU shot itself in the foot a hell of a lot more than Bama did.
Both teams had two turnovers, but both of LSU's gave Bama great field position. One of Bama's gave LSU 3 points, while the other put LSU at their own 1.
LSU didn't use any trick plays that game, while Bama tried a few because their base offense didn't do anything outside of a couple of busted coverages on Richardson.
Also, it was obvious that Lonegran was still not 100% healthy in that game and it was his first game back. He'll be healthier this time around.
For Bama fans complaining about injuries, Bama was not missing a single starter for the entire game. They had some guys get nicked up in the game, but they still played. LSU was missing it's starting defensive end, which was a huge blow.
In the end, I still think the game will depend on which team calls the best offensive mix of plays. LSU was so predictable in the first meeting that it killed numerous drives. LSU threw the ball 11 times after the 1st quarter and ran up the middle way too much. A more diverse offensive gameplan will be more effective this time around.

How many yards did Alabama gain off of trick plays?

It's way better watching the second time around. Especially for SEC smashmouth fans. These guys were hitting the shite out of each other. Great defensive game. Lots of missed opps for both teams on O.

I enjoyed it just as much the second time. I was way too drunk when they played it. Both teams missed so many chances to get points. And yes it was such a hard hitting game.

There in lies the problem. Your straight offense worked great up until the 30 yard line and then bogged down. Saban and company tried to get cute to push it into the redzone and not only did it not work, it backfired a couple of times.
On the Maze end around, he slipped but LSU also had the play read perfectly and he likely still loses yards on the play.
The wildcat with an injured WR throwing the ball was just a stupid and unnecessary call. Bad coaching call there.
Both teams played tight, and it was obvious. I don't think you could honestly easily pick a winner for this game, but the thing shifting things is that every advantage Bama had going into that game is gone now. That will be a factor people don't understand.

I watched it about 7 times the week after the game.

Trent won't run nearly as hard now that Heisman is over. Got to protect that Top 10 draft pick status. Too much money to lose if he gets hurt.

I just finished the first quarter. Here are some of the thoughts I had so far:
-Knowing what Trent Richardson did throughout the game, after rewatching 1Q, I am extremely impressed. I counted about 6 big hits on him so far, and a couple that would have knocked Isaiah Crowell out of the game. He got stood up a couple times, but ran hard throughout the game.
-There was a couple brain-dead screw ups by Bama dealing with substitutions, I think both were on the same drive.
-Bama's second drive, starting at the 5, should have been cut much shorter. A blown coverage and 15 yd penalty by Simon significantly improved field position.
-Jarrett Lee never looked like he wasn't frightened to have the ball in his hands.

I will argue this with you ALL DAY. Go back and watch what Alabama did when they got to the 30. I know damn well LSU fans don't want to hear it but Alabama's problems at the 30 were almost all self inflicted. Hell if it's possible put videos of the plays on here.
