Then he shouldn’t have voluntarily left Florida. They get a lot of good recruits there.

You are absolutely out of your mind if you don't think Fromm is the clear #1 at this point.

Otoh, with a few breaks this year we may just finally pull it off.

Next year though? We boat race you all.

Unfortunately, that isn't the trend.

Sure about that? Bama won national titles after the fails of 2010, 2014, and 2016. Clemson won after the fail of 2015.

See how this

Unless USC suddenly turns into an offensive juggernaut

Isn't the same as this

Muschamp can't field an offense

One has to wonder how all the schools surrounding Georgia have won National Championships (some multiple) yet they can't win the big game. Even GT has a more recent National Championship

Feel confident we will still have that NCG as a real possibility come December. If we're playing Bama, they still have more talent on their roster than we do. Getting closer though. They should and will be favored this year. Next year, the talent will be even or we may even have a slight edge.

Is it possible this year? Yes.

Is there a better chance next year? Yes.

As far as QB, Fromm will have to play poorly or be in a big must win game where the offense is stalled (even if not necessarily his fault) for Fields to come in and take it this year.

I think next year will be an all out competition.

Well, we are going to find out. May need one more year but we are getting there.

Some Dawg fans saying the same thing they said last year, "next year". We lost some DGDs but their replacements are DGDs too. This team is going to be labeled young early on but by time for the SECCG it won't be relevant. I counted 10 returning players on offense and 9 on defense who had significant playing time in the SECCG and the National Championship game. This is the deepest and most talented team I can remember. The trenches on both sides of the ball is gonna surprise some people. 12-0 heading to Atlanta. Frick USCe, Frick L7U and Frick the Barn.

We still need depth at DL.

And we have question marks up the middle against the run (losing Atkins and Roquan).

There is a lot to be optimistic about. Especially on offense. But every team has questions going into every season. We have ours, too.

eeeeehhhhhhhhhhh, I don't know of too many people last summer that pointed to 2018 as "the year". I've always contended that 2019 and onward is going to be where we have a legit, realistic shot to be title winners. As far as 2018 our offense should be excellent but I fear we lost too much PT on defense. You are absolutely right in that we're replacing those guys with equal (or in several cases, far more) talented guys, but they're simply young. That's why I point to 2019, these 5* elite defenders will ahve gotten their feet wet and been in the system long enough by then.

Guys like Cox, Campbell, Lecounte, Grant, Webb, etc...all are studs but with very little meaningful playing time. I think by 2019 they'll all be great. Not to mention that our offense in 2019 could be absolutely off the charts. We'll likely start a dude that was rated 5* by at least 1 ranking service at at least 9 of 11 positions.

Fans were pointing to 2018 because the OL would be better and the QB would be an upperclassmen (Jacob eason)

Too many serious roster deficiencies this year to seriously contend.

33 seriously contributing seniors out the door robs us of the majority of offensive production as well as all of our runstoppers on D and veterans in the secondary.

NO ONE recruits at a level to replace 33 seniors.

I would love to look to 2019 as the year, but our Dline will be fully depleted, several talented OL gone, so it doesn't look great.

Elephant in the room is QB. Fromm was propped up by two legends in the back field last year, and early reports are that he isn't the type to put the team on his back. Furthermore, for all the athleticism of Fields, insiders say he is struggling to grasp playbook concepts and take control of the huddle, so the jury is out as to whether we will have a viable option under center.

Tough year this year (8-4/9-3) followed by a potential rebound next year (9-3, 10-2 AT BEST)

But, USCe, UT, and UF now have proven big time coaches building their teams to compete, so, as odd as it sounds, our window is closing. FAST

Name the 33 and I'll name their replacement.

That included walk-ons and 25 people who never saw the field.

Don't know what to believe. That came from a UGA fan and it's not that uncommon for a freshman to not have a grasp of the playbook before the season starts. The Fields live about a half mile from me and I haven't heard any reports on him since the spring.

Don't worry about it man. One year of lightning in a bottle success with CMRs best players has got most of our fan base in full sunshine pump mode.

Ummm, believe everything you read on the internet. Including a guy thinking UGA's ceiling is 8 games.
