How good could Raymon Malcolm have been had he not been injured?

He passed away a few years back in a car accident but he was one of the best running backs to ever play high school football in Louisiana at Ruston High. The same year Marshall Faulk came out of Carver High School in 91, Malcolm was the best in the state and a lot of people were comparing him to Eric Dickerson.

I had the priviledge to work with him when I was just out of college and we talked a lot about what could have been. He told me that they had went through Spring practice and he was neck and neck with Stephen Davis one year for the starting tailback position. Went into fall practice and he had been working out all summer and trying to get better. Said the week before the first game, not sure which year, coach named him starting tailback. He blew his knew out in the first game of the season and spent all year after surgery trying to rehab so he could come back. Said it was never the same after that. By the time he came back he was 5th on the depth chart and never had a real chance to play so he ended up transferring to Northwestern State.

Just curious what Auburn fans think. He always said to me, "You know I shouldn't be working here. God gave me an unbelievable athletic ability but an injury kept me out of the NFL. I look at Stephen Davis and know that I was better than him. He is making millions in the league now. It was my dream to play in the NFL but God had different plans for me I guess."

davis didn't start until 94... he backed up james bostic in 93. Bowden would've been the head coach. Tommy Bowden was OC, I believe... Jimbo may have been QB coach at that time. Not sure about RB.

I thought it was Royman? Thought he was going to be another very good RB at Auburn. Tough stuff to lose your opportunity to a bad injury.
