I am seeing most preseason magazines and sites ranking them in the 15-20 range. Is this based on talent? Mullen? Schedule? All of the above. I’m not taking a jab at Florida at all. The fact is they were a team that got handled easily in the second half of the season by Uga,Mizzou, and Fsu. S.Carolina won by more than a td. The schedule is close to the same but subbing State on the road for A&M is not easier. I know they have some talent but as of today I see 8-4 as a top end record. Again not a jab. Just curious to what the board thinks.

Because it’s Florida and most people outside of the rant expect Florida to be at the very least competitive every year. Having a new head coach with a history of winning at an abysmal job previously and prior time spent coaching at UF certainly doesn’t hurt.

Exactly. It's the name. Florida is generally always competitive and they are right in the middle of a talent hotspot. Although 15-20 seems a bit ambitious for a team that only won 4 games last season and now has a brand new coach.

At the moment, it looks like UF fans have buyers remorse with Mullen. He also isn't walking into the powerhouse that he was once at. Too many questions that won't be answered until the season starts IMO.

A lot of UF fans are not giving Mullen a chance to actually coach a game because recruiting results in July.

I mean, if he could take MSST and have 9 win seasons in a harder division with much less raw talent -- then there's no reason he shouldn't be able to at least replicate the results.

18 starters returning + trading Michigan for an FCS + three blue chip transfers (2 who don't count toward the last class) + Scarlett returning.

I mean we have two FCS games, CSU at home and we were at least competitive in most games last year outside of Mizzou, Michigan and Georgia with a lot of injuries and of course our back up Head Coach.

Mullen walked into a favorable situation with one of our easiest years to date with most tough games at home outside of MSST, UGA and FSU and almost the entire depth chart returning.

Ehh .. I think they do have more concerns than just recruiting. Again, I'm not saying those are Mullen's fault.

They have an entirely new staff, a team coming off a 4-win season, and no QB.

They have to completely change the offense from pro to spread.

And I'll say it again - they don't have a QB.

So yeah, they are ranked on name only.

I think their schedule sets up nicely. You get MIZ, SC, LSU, and KY at home. Vandy and TN on the road. Flip the script on those six games and the schedule becomes brutal.

Fake news!

Most Gator fans are happy so far with Mullen. You do have some Nega-Gators that are gonna bitch no matter what you do.

You can’t have buyers remorse from something you never wanted in the first place. His tenure is going about like I expected so far, average.

The schedule is a joke. The problem is we're recruiting worse than shark humper. Bill Sikes destroyed all the pumper, "give him time", "recruits want to wait" in his latest version of gators breakdown. Imo Stricklin shouldn't have given him $36M or a guaranteed buyout

Unlikely to get bored enough to listen to a Gator podcast. Cliff's notes version?

Basically general wonk shite.

Stars matter and on-field results don't. I don't think anyone ever has said that stars don't matter so it's just Sikes talking out of his neck and I'm not sure anyone could agree that long-term results in recruiting are affected by on-field results.

TJ's new hero who kind of got made a fool of and is now quitting Twitter because of it. It's to be expected from a guy who says winning doesn't matter and debates a point no one is making.

A lot of different reasons. They had a ton of distractions. 10 members out because of arrests. Coach was a distraction and lame duck. No QB.

If it could go wrong for Florida last year, it did.

I think most Gator fans are cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season. We return a lot of starters and last years results had more to do with outside factors than actually talent on the team. If you look at it in terms of recruiting, we have averaged a recruiting rank of right around 15 the past few seasons. That is nowhere near where we want it to be, but should be enough talent for a good coach to end up ranked in the 15 range at the end of the season.

Exactly my line of thought as well. If we're recruiting on average of 15 (just for the last four years, give or take) there's absolutely no reason a good coach can't get us around there.

Unless, of course, we simply don't have a good coach.
