Public Perception regarding UGA/UT series vs. Florida

I've brought this up before, but with ut/uf coming up this week figured I would again.
I'm always a little perplexed at the national media and the public in general when it comes to the perception of UGA vs UF compared to UT vs UF. For years, that is ALL you heard about going into UGA/UF week. "Georgia just can't beat florida". Hell it started back in the summer in the preseason mags, "Georgia might do xyz, but they'll still always lose to florida". The pregame shows on CBS would ALWAYS trumpet the "3 and whatever" record UGA has had since 1990. So I guess my question is...why doesn't UT get the same treatment?
let's look closer. In the 90s, UGA went 1-9 while UT went 3-7. Terrible for both programs, but better for UT. It's worth noting that UGA had one of its worst decades ever while UT was a national top 5ish program of the decade. In the 00s, UGA went 2-8 while UT went 3-7. Again, slightly better for UT, but both equally bad. In the 10s, it is 3-1 UGA and 0-4 UT. Tennessee has currently lost 9 in a row, which is 2 more than UGA ever lost back in the 90s. Both teams are 6-18 since 1990 against florida. So again I guess my ultimate quesiton is, how come you don't hear the national media and fans across the nation giving tennessee as much shite and tossing out "6-18" like we used to get?
And by the way, this is an attempt at serious discussion. For the people who want to claim I'm some form of "mad", based on recent history in both series I have absolutely no reason to be mad.

Good question. I think its becauss uf has the overall recordvs ut buy not against uga?maybe?

Why would you have to be mad? UGA has Agent Muschampionships working miracles at UF.

That's because over the last 8 years or so, Georgia has been good while Tennessee has been atrocious. Florida has been up and down in that time.

Dead honest, as someone who has followed the SEC closely since 2000, I don't remember hearing the media mention Georgia's struggles with Florida. The game has always been pretty hyped to me. I think you probably hear it more because you pay more attention to UGA than you do to UT.

I guess the angle of this thread is that GAg doesn't get respect.
I've heard a lot of shite regarding TN not winning a single game in 9 years against FL.
None of this shite really matters. No past records is indicative of what will happen in the future.

What does that mean? We dont' get shite anymore because we're doing well, I get that. But the UT being shite doesn't make any sense, because we were just as bad in the 90s. We had 2 seasons where we won 10 games (and went 1-1 against UF those years), but the rest of the time we were mediocre to awful. We also had goff and donnan coaching against spurrier.
Seems like the media would pile on UT more than they have.

Dear Lord could you be more dense?
The angle is that UT should be getting more disrespect.

1. 3-7 is better than 1-9. Even still there was TONS of talk about how Peyton could never beat Florida. It still goes on today as part of the Manning is a choker narrative so that part of your argument doesn't really hold water.
2. Recently Tenn has been terrible and can't beat anyone so it goes without saying that they can't beat Florida. UGA was excellent in the early-mid 00s but would still lose games to inferior Florida teams. That's the difference.

Bec UT had a national power perception at the end on the 90s that trumped any poor performance against UF in early Sept.
UGA did not and those 18 losses were later on and usually ending UGAs chances of anything more than an average season.
UT, now, is not getting shite for losing to UGA bec they are losing to everyone. They do catch national shite for losing to a team though...BAMA.

Very possible, good point.
Another theory I have is that UT was so successful in the 90s and won some stuff so the media might not have cared as much about their woes against UF. Still though, even when Richt's early tenure had us winning stuff, all the way up to 2011 when we started winning on the reg people would always say "UGA will find a way to lose to florida like always"

exact same thing for UGA in the 90s

How old are you guys? I don't mean that in a derogatory way but UT got a ton of crap for not beating Florida during the Manning years.

I admit I have some envy of the delusional nature of the TN fan base. They have been really bad, yet their fan base remains hopeful and excited about the program regardless. I remember even when Doley was the coach, all the Braysus hope, and smack talk.
Gator fans are never happy, even when we are good. Now that we suck, they are simply unbearable.

late 20s. Yes I do realize that peyton never beating UF is good message board fodder between fans this time of the season. It just seems (and as mentioned, maybe I only see more of it since I pay attention to uga more than ut) that all you heard every.single.year. constantly was the "x and whatever" record of UGA vs UF since 1990, and whenever I watch uf/ut games now it doesn't seem like that's hardly ever mentioned. 9 in a row might be because that's kind of a big deal, but I doubt you will see much mention of UT being 6-18 against UF during the pregame.

Knowing FL's history as a program before the 90s, to me is remarkable that we are ahead in the series against TN. We lead in wins, and that to me says how much they have lost to us since the 90s.

You guys were never quite this bad. Also no one was getting crap for losing to those Florida teams in the 90s because everyone was losing to them. You only started getting crap when you lost games like 02 when Zook was there and you were so much better.

Not really true. Yes those UT teams were very very good but Florida was elite and pretty much always the better team.

Yes part of it is you pay more attention to UGA but if UT gets good again and Florida stays mediocre but continues to beat UT every year you will start hearing much more about how UT can't beat UF.
