The biggest problem with State is instead of keeping a contextual campus, you can look at each building and the style of architecture and guess the year.

The worst bldgs to ever land on campus is the Hunter Henry Space Center. That is easily the biggest WTF were they thinking with that building.

As long as the Master Campus plan at LSU involves getting rid of Middleton, then I'm ok -- that thing is a TOTAL embarrassment to campus. While it might be marginal in other areas, NOT in the center of the quad that is the most beautiful part.

Of the ones I have been to
1. LSU - as soon as you leave campus though...
2. Auburn - beautiful but cookie cutter architecture.
3. Alabama - Haphazard in layout and design but has some nice elements

Every campus I have been to is nice. No losers in the SEC. Not even Strakpatch with their new construction. FWIW -UW was gorgeous. Too bad their tailgating sucks. Notre Dame was, like thier football, over rated. Mitchie stadium (Army), and surrounding campus was awesome.

Arkansas' actual on campus buildings are nothing special. Arkansas is only pretty when you consider the natural aspects of the campus (the mountains, trees, etc), Old Main, and the athletic facilities, which are top notch. The campus doesn't have those new look state of art looking buildings like some of ya'll have posted. Most are very old looking.

Alabama ranks in the top 25 most beautiful campuses in the country on 3 different publications:

Bama ranked #12: LINK

Bama ranked #17: (Only SEC school on the list): LINK

Bama ranked #17: LINK

Auburn doesn't belong in this conversation. LSU and Alabama have the top 2 in the SEC.

They have Pepperdine #1 so I don't give that list much credence. Yes, WHERE Pepperdine is located is breathtakingly beautiful, but the architechture, landscaping and general "feel" that other schools have lacks at Pepperdine. UCLA is much better the Pepperdine as is Loyola Marymount.

I like the old buildings. The shady, established feel of Arkansas' campus is why it's so beautiful. That and the rolling Ozarks.

Virtual Tour of Alabama's campus. LINK

I think Alabama's is right up there, if not the best. I would disagree w/ UGA being up there... Athens has the best bar scene, but the campus itself is alright...

I agree. The campus is really unorganized and spread out. Still nice, but I think that people love the three block bar area of downtown athens that they associate it with the campus.
