Nolan and Broyles butted heads bigtime. Nolan accused Broyles of being racist. Most fans at the time sided with Broyles. After seeing more of the machinations of the AD during the Nutt fiasco, a lot of fans realized that Nolan wasn't all that bad of a guy afterall.
Lindsey is the biggest real estate developer in NWA. He played ball under Broyles (JFB). Lindsey is, without question, 100% in the JFB corner. If anybody did still hold a grudge against Nolan, it would make sense that it would be someone like Lindsey.

so pretty much he's probably against MA only because of Nolan... not another reason?
Posted on 3/21/11 at 1:09 pm to molsusports
Allegedly, yeah. It would be a classic case of guilt by association.
Most Hog fans believe that those hard feelings are the only reason MA didn't get the job when Nolan left.

Is this still related to the way that Nolan went out at Arkansas?
Or is there another reason for him not to want MA?
Lindsey sees the hiring of Mike Anderson as a "slap in the face" of Broyles.
If you haven't noticed, some people, mainly his former players from the 64 team, spend a great deal of effort in protecting Broyles' "legacy"...
Many of these same boosters didn't want Nutt fired, and for sure didn't want Petrino to replace him...

Yeah, and there are so many players from the '64 team who just so happen to be filthy rich these days.

He really doesn't have as much say as people think, there are wealthier people in more influential positions that do have more say and have an opposite opinion of his...
Lindsey will not prevent MA from coming here, the current offer may, but it is more than fair...

FCJ does not have a clue. MA has an offer from us from what most seem to think is in the 5 year 2 mil per range. He is thinking this offer over which means he is not going to take it. He stays at Mizzou and we need to move on. The thing slowing it down right now is that several candidates are still coaching. The UT and OK jobs being open at the same time has probably hurt our chances of getting a better coach than MA. we are screwed again.

The thing slowing it down was the death of a close friend.

No, not really. OU will continue to go after Buzz and land him, big deal, much better coaches are still interested in out job. Tenner is likely to focus on football once again after trying to sacrifice basketball to the NCAA...

No.
I forgot he was still there, you never hear anything about them, Shields and UALR and Tech dominate the non-hog head lines around here.

Admittedly, I like Anderson, but I think your point here is correct. Barring Howland or someone else out of left field, who can we get better than Mike?
I think it's a shame we may not get the best coach possible because of 10 year old pissing contest. I hope Dale is right and Mike has an offer already.
If it's not Mike lets go get Marshall and win some games, he has won every where he's been.

I think UT hurts us, but not Oklahoma.
I guess it depends on what kind of mess Tenn is in, as well. I havent kept up with that fiasco, so I'm not sure if it was just Pearl, or UT & Pearl.

Unless we want Buzz desperately, I agree, 0U does want him, apparently.
I just don't see a better coach on our radar than Mike. If there is I'm all for it.

No, one of very close friends passed away Saturday suddenly of a heart attack. Sexton and Long is doing the dealing.

The first coach since 1987 to take a 14 loss team to the Sweet 16 doesn't excite you?

Someone tell Sao he is free. I don't have contact info. And tell him to check the help board.

Are you still thinking Mike is the likely hire?

UT is going to have trouble finding a coach with the major NCAA problems right now.
