so perhaps they should bear some burden for the amount of crime in the city of New Orleans. They do everything in their power to have these criminals released from the charges and back on the streets to perform more criminal activities.

Please tell me you're joking.

A lot of people don't think what he did was a big deal, or that it was overblown. He didn't face jail time for what he did. He is getting ready to play for the starting QB position. It's frustrating as a female to see such a double standard of overreaction or lack thereof.

After pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery, Mettenberger was sentenced on May 3 to two concurrent, 12-month probationary periods under the state of Georgia's first offender act. He was ordered to pay $2,000 in fines and to perform 40 hours of community service.

So, it is ok to perform sexual battery on someone, male or female, as long as they are not aware of it?

I'm pretty sure just about every Bama fan has said it's wrong. Just a question for those asking these questions though. When and Lsu recruit and some buddies pressured a minor 4 yrs his junior, while he was of legal age into giving a blowjob, were all of you calling out all the Lsu fans, on the 20 pages on the Tiger Rant calling the young girl a whore?

Thanks for the answer. If that is what the punishment is for the crime, then that is what the gentleman from Alabama receives although I am unsure what happens as the states are different

Downing is about to learn about justice. If he was in Afghanistan, he'd be doused with gas and thrown in a fiery pit. If he was in the Tenderloin district in San Fran, pedestrians would have been throwing $1s at him. He did it in NOLA after the Tide beat LSU, and he's going to have to pay the piper.

I have no sympathy for him. His own stupidity got him into this situation, and he's going to have to deal with it. In the arlo scale-o-meter of crimes against humanity, this barely registers as a 1, but he just picked the wrong venue.

Without knowing the full details it would be hard to make a valid argument one way or the other

This is the problem I have with it. Had this incident happened on Bourbon Street without the college football connection, it would have never been an issue. Even had he been arrested, he would get a simple battery charge and the punishment and crime would have been proportional. However, his punishment will likely be greater simply because of college football.

An 18 year old pressured a ( I believe it was 14 year old) into oral sex. 20 pages or so on the TIGER Rant consisted of Lsu fans calling the girl a whore and blaming her for ruining this recruits life. Again, I ask, how many of you were over there with the same veracity as you have with this subject?

I'd be happy to get into a discussion about the psychochemical impact of sexual battery versus rape with penetration. And then use this in a discussion about why I think it is a huge disservice to victims everywhere for people who aggressively pursue charges to crimes that are less emotionally destructive.
