Listening to MS St. beat writer this morning who pointed out your offense struggled last season because Fitz didn't Moorehead's system, like many of you have pointed out.

He then went to mention Fitz had success under Mullen because Mullen tailored his scheme to his personnel.

This has been a major topic discussed amongst State fans. We were set up for a big year by State standards if Mullen and crew came back. I do believe we would’ve went 10-2. Now, I wasn’t one of the tards guaranteeing it on here. I thought with a new system/coach and QB who wasn’t a fit and coming off a horrible injury we’d be 9-3/8-4. Now, back to your question, Moorhead was hired for the long haul. He could’ve not put in his system, went 10-2 and probably went to the Peach or Citrus and finished 10-15 in the nation. We were in a unique situation. Most of the time a new coach takes over a dumpster fire. Example:Arkansas needed a total culture change and rebuild. We didn’t. We were set up for success last year.For just last year we’d been better off hiring Houston Nutt. Our AD Cohen looked at the long term. Will it work with Moorhead? Who knows? I know people say good coaches adjust to personnel, but this was a very unique situation with a new coach.wanting to put in his system of a heavy pass/run read O lead by a QB who can do this. This was also a HC who had been the OC at a major P5 program, and was nationally renowned for his offensive genius. Now, 8-5 and an Outback Bowl ain’t shabby by State standards, but we sacrificed a possible Top 10 finish and NY6 Bowl for the future and many State fans are still pissed about it and hate Moorhead. Was it worth it? Well, the next year or two will tell.
