Would be surprised to see MIZ at 9-3 and MS St. at 8-4
Posted on 6/12/19 at 9:50 am to TideSaint
8-4 would put Pruitt in SEC Coach of the Year contention, id be happy with that
Im worried about our lines, particularly our Dline. Im at 6-6 +/- 1

Why would you be surprised to see State go 8-4? They have to beat 4 awful nonconference teams, an awful Arkansas, Tennessee, and Ole Miss team, and what will be an average Kentucky at home. That's not even considering the fact that we will have tossup games against A&M (we have beaten 4 of last 5 years), Auburn, and LSU.....8-4 is basically the standard prediction for MSU this year.

UGA and bama are near certain losses.
Let's call UF/MSU/SC tossups.
I would think you'd win the rest. Do you think going 1-2 in the swing games would be COY status?

In what universe is Florida a tossup game for Tennessee this year? Florida will beat them to death. Tennessee is going to be awful again. Hell, State will be favored by a touchdown in that game. It will be a borderline tossup game that they will have to upset State to win. Florida is not a tossup. Kentucky will be average but they play them in Lexington. That's a tossup. Vanderbilt kicked the shite out of them and is a rivalry game. That is a tossup. 8-4 is a pipe dream.

Because State is awful and your coach is retarded

Has your goofy arse head coach learned what asparagus is yet? A Tennessee fan calling out someone else's head coach.

Because road games at Auburn and A&M aren't toss up games, and neither is LSU.
State lost a ton of production, why wouldn't you be surprised to go 8-4?
TN should be favored over you come kick too.

Why would I not be surprised to go 8-4? The same reason vegas has our o/u at 8 wins. We have a really easy schedule. Tennessee will not be favored over state. Do you people even watch the games or do you just look at recruiting rankings and assume that Tennessee won't suck for the umpteenth time in a row? They fricking suck every year. Arkansas is awful. That's not a tossup. We beat you by 50 fricking points last year. We beat the shite out of Auburn and A&M. It's a tossup because we lost some production and it's on the road. It's not a sure loss. We are replacing that production with extremely highly rated guys that played a lot on the literal best defense in the country last year. and the guys behind those guys on defense are also extremely highly recruited. We also return 3 of the best linebackers in the conference, a future first/second round pick at corner, 4 offensive line starters, a starting tailback, every receiver, and 3 other secondary starters....We recruit extremely well on the defensive side of the football. There's not going to be a huge drop.....try watching football and analyzing someone's schedule instead of just assuming stupid shite.

The VOL in me says 8-4 is possible.
The realist in me says it's a pipe dream. 6-6.

Im not saying he'd win it but I think hed be in contention. Especially if that 1 win was over UF and they ended up being ranked highly at the end of the season like they normally do.
But there are some tough jobs coming up this year, theres a number of coaches who could win it. Chad Morris, Boom, Matt Luke, and Derek Mason could all substantially improve next year. And theres always the COY possibilities like Kirby or Saban if they win the NC.

Your fandom has obviously clouded your ability to think objectively.
You do not have a really easy schedule and you should be able to recognize that Knoxville will be tough a game.
You beat Auburn and A&M by two scores each last season. Not sure how you figure that translates to beating the shite of them or why it would indicate anything going forward.
You're being a whiny homer because a fan of another team doesn't see 8-4 for MS St.? Who do you think you are? MS St. certainly isn't a program who reloads historically.
Posted on 6/12/19 at 11:21 am to CrabInMyShoeMouth
My ability to think objectively? I'm predicting the exact same thing that Las Vegas put the O/U on. That's literally as objective as I can possibly get. I'm predicting the exact same thing as this national 247 writer is predicting. We may not go 8-4, but it should not surprise anyone if we do that has even looked at the schedule. Who do I think we are? I think we are an average SEC team that gets to load up on 4 nonconference teams, 3 shitty SEC teams (like the one you pull for), and an average Kentucky team. That's who I think we are. Maybe instead of looking at what MSU has done historically, you should look at what State has done recently along with their schedule and who they are replacing their lost production with. Recently, we win about 8 games a year. This isn't 1995.

I haven’t read this entire thread but two things jumped out to me. Arkansas will definitely win more than one conference game and Bama isn’t going undefeated in the regular season.

Yeah. Using the same reasoning for your argument that you discounted in the counter argument (which I actually never said anything about recruiting) would be thinking subjectively, the opposite of objectively.
You're also sorely mistaking if you think Vegas' O/U is a prediction and this guy at 247 isn't as dumb as you.
Posted on 6/12/19 at 11:38 am to CrabInMyShoeMouth
You just said that a game against a team that beat you by 50 points last year is a tossup game for you this year and told a guy that predicted his team to win the same amount of games that is on the o/u line that he was not objective. Good luck this year. Your team is going to need it. I can tell by your infinite amount of research about MSU football that you really know your stuff. I can’t wait for you to actually break down our team and let me know why I’m stupid instead of just throwing out random generalities that people who don’t know shite about football use.
