this assuming nine or 10 conference games? Because I just don’t see Texas only losing five games a year.

Might be a little harsh for Texas, but will come down to how the schedules are structured.

If they were playing an SEC West schedule as it exists now (and playing OU), that is probably about right.

Texas will go back to locking up recruiting the state of Texas and will get better.

Maybe, but would be at the detriment to OU and A&M who depend on Texas recruiting.

It will most definitely be at a detriment to A&M. When they were in conference together, Texas rarely if ever lost a recruiting battle to A&M.

I think Texas could easily not suck and still average 7-5. Think 2019 A&M, 7-5 with losses to LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and auburn, beat a top 25 3rd in big 12 okie lite in their bowl game

I think this will definitely be a detriment to A&M. That is obvious from the own AD’s reaction to these moves.

OU will be better off. We are used to Texas getting their share. Whatever advantage A&M had the last 10 years will be erased. At minimum they won’t be able to play the SEC card against OU. That is especially true for defensive talent. We have already made huge improvements to our admittedly historically pathetic defenses of the 2010’s but this should help further.

We were so bad there for a while. I truly think Mike Stoops took away at least one title from us. The next time GA, LSU, or Bama play is they won’t be seeing a Mike Stoops defense (or remnants of one).

Where it really might make a difference is all of our standings with respect to other Texas schools and OSU. All of us have significant advantages over those others but we will still lose a few coveted recruits to them. That will be less and less likely.

We have gone through periods where we lost significant players to Baylor and KSU. The former being more recent and the latter in the ‘90s. That is less likely now.

Dude. Discounting last season because of Covid, Texas has been 72-57 the last 10 years.

That equates out to an average of 7.2-5.7
That's almost exactly what his prediction was. Do you think Texas is suddenly going to do better in the SEC?

With the Bowl game you come out at 7-6. (Rounded off average)
