I also have us down for 9-3. Another failure of a season not winning the east but with enough wins to satisfy the people ok with us being average which will sadly save Richt's job again.

I think it's less that and more the other team figured out ways to exploit AU. It's not like your defense flipped the switch off in teh 2nd half against us, we just started executing.

You act as if Auburn didn't have a month to get ready as well? That argument goes both ways.

Curious as to what Clemson brings to the table other than a defensive line and your general negativity that leads you to believe we lose this game?

And we stopped...Our punter shanked two puts and our WR ran into our RB on a play we ran about 1000 time last year. That and AM playing like AM finally, make it real interesting.

And AU's offense played extremely well.

Why is everyone so confident UGA beats UT? Look at the past 2 years, they have come down to the wire, even though UT still had vastly inferior talent. And before injuries get brought up, you have to realize that our team were probably less talented and experienced than UGA as a whole even after ya'll had those injuries. I say we have a decent chance to pull this one out.

Alabama had 495 yards against Auburn. Auburn had 393 total yards. Funny how stats like that are only considered important when Auburn loses.

They were a dynamic offense, they played well in basically every game. Yet Pruitt held them below their season averages. It wouldn't be feasible or logical to expect him to hold AU to 10 points and 300 total yards. He did a better job than almost anyone else on AU's schedule at slowing down the offense.

And compared to what we've been working with, he is head and shoulders better. We'll lose a few games this year, probably, but nobody is going to just flat out whoop us.

Because most people think UT is going to be awful this year

That does not equal a good performance.

That is very true.

9-3. Could go 10-2. All predicted losses will be very close games.

We were awful last year, and the year before, and the year before. Those three games were all decided by a touchdown or less.

Because UT sucks and we're much better at football

Look at the past 2 years

Yes, let's.

In 2012 we put up 51 points. We also gave up 44 points, but that can be attributed to 2 things. 1)Grantham. He sucked and everyone knows it. 2)UT had some stellar offensive talent in 2012. Bray was a headcase but dude had talent. Obviously Patterson is/was beastly. Also had a very solid OL. The game shouldn't have been that close, but it was. oh well.

In 2013 we were up by 2 touchdowns at halftime. Let's also look at the circumstances surrounding that game:

-In knoxville
-UT had a winning record, which considering the dooley years was remarkable in itself
-Wore a new uniform for the first time ever. The above 3 bullet points add up to a great crowd and the most fired up UT had been in a while.
-UGA was coming into the game missing our #1 WR and #1 RB. And yet, we were up 17-3 at halftime.

It wasn't until our #2 and #3 WRs and #2 RB all went down to injury that UT started to get back in the game. Momentum can do wonders for a home underdog.

I say we have a decent chance to pull this one out

Let's assume for discussion sake we are around 90%healthy. The game is at home, we out talent you across the board, and have far more experienced/proven coaches. If UT wins it would be ae monumental upset.

Chuck Oliver made a good comment about UT on the radio yesterday. They are improving but the hole is so big and the SEC mountian just keeps rising.

Why not? He did his job better than 11 other coaching staffs did, I'd say that's good. Is there some cutoff for a good performance, like 200 yards rushing, 200 passing, and 20 points?

This thread is much more reality based than the MSU thread.

If you can't see the circumstances that allowed for last year's game to be close, I can't help you. We were on our way to an easy W until our whole team's knees started exploding.
