But surely you realize your little diatribe is more than simply "making fun." I mean, come on man.
Something about us just really bothers you. You have the need--and you're certainly not alone-- to explain to us why we're not unique or "special" knowing full well your testimony will fall on deaf ears.
But why? What does it matter that a bunch of college kids want rings or are particularly--even obnoxiously--proud? Aggies believe the school is a special place. What's wrong with that?
And I'm really not pleading for acceptance or for the Aggie bashing to subside. It is what it is. I really am legitimately curious, though.

Hog, the Aggie Ring is a tribute to our school. I don't wear mine b/c I'm trying to play soldier; I wear it because it ties me to other Ags--past & present. Don't make more of it than what it is. It's certainly not intended to disrespect anyone.
I think folks are ready for football season. This is getting brutal.

Dumb.

We feel like SEC fans' passion for their respective schools is very similar to ours. That's simply not seen in the Big 12. If anything, the alleged feeling that "[we] should have been here all along" is a compliment.

Truth - this is one long offseason.
I'll read through the thread, but is all this discussion about what is essentially an aTm class ring?

It's about how Aggies shouldn't be proud of their class rings.

It started as a "show me your anti-Texas A&M gif" and devolved into a ring discussion. It's evident that more relaxation-inducing beverages are needed by some.

Seriously, there are so many other things posters can bash about A&M, but they're choosing the Aggie ring?
Some people's need to hate anything and everything about A&M is astounding.

Very well then, carry on. I think one should feel confident in whatever jewelry one wants to wear
- ah, I'm just fricking around
Seriously, I'd never heard about this ring until now - :themoreyouknow:

It's just kinda odd to wear it on a daily basis, or even order one at all in most cases. Not that I care, but I think that's what he was saying.
You do realize the class ring thing is big in the state of Texas, not just Texas A&M?
Both my sister and brother in law are wearing their Texas State rings every time I see them, almost every Texas grad I know has an wears a class ring, and I've seen plenty of people wearing Texas Tech rings.
You can pick a bunch of things that only A&M does to poke fun at. Trying to make us look silly for taking pride in our class rings when several schools in the state do the exact same thing is just..... well, stupid.
Sorry to interject logic.

No, I didn't know that since, you know, I'm not from Texas.
And that doesn't make it not strange, by the way.
Oh, and learn how to respond to correct person. Aggies really do struggle with that for some reason.

True, but the entire context of your point was that we seem to be doing something that nobody else does or has reason to do. Being that this is not unique to us in the slightest, especially in the state of Texas, this doesn't carry much water.
As far as you personally thinking it's strange for us or anyone else to wear class rings, I literally couldn't care less.

See, now that's something for which to make fun of Aggies (as opposed to rings).
This thread is turning around.

True statement. I believe this is the 3rd and final time we flirted with the SEC over 20 yrs. Many Ags have felt correctly it was our destiny.
What's wrong with that?

People who you typically see wearing class rings:
A&M graduates (already discussed)
Academy graduates (some on their left hand. Different design every year)
VMI graduates (distinguishable because they're almost as big as the entire hand)
VPI graduates (see above)
Citadel graduates (see above)
The difference between the Aggie ring and the others is that the only difference between aggie rings of different classes (besides finish) is the class year. Design is unchanged since 1894.
...and I've been in the military for 12 years now. The only thing that I wear in uniform that I wore as a cadet is the Aggie Ring. ACUs are worn by ALL ROTC cadets whether they have commissioned or not. The A&M cadet uniforms haven't been worn since WWII by actual servicemembers and they have no plans on changing to the Army Green Class A garbage uniform now that it's being phased out.

brother DWag215, I'm with you. It's not like we have not heard this stuff before. We are used to it. We have tough skin.
Why would someone from of all places, Tennessee, start a thread like this? And then of all places, Kentucky and Arkansas people join in.
99.9% of the Aggies are happy to be here in the SEC. We fought tooth and toenail to keep from being drug to the PAC 12. We feel a kinship with the SEC.
We know will get slapped around for a few years but we will never quit and we will always leave our best effort on the field.
Again we are happy to be here. We are proud of our school and we are proud of our state. We are what we are and you can like us or hate us. We hope you like us but we will not lose any sleep over it if you don't.
We can't wait for our first SEC home game against Florida.
I expect Missouri feels the same way.
