This actually makes me feel a little bad. There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like part of a group, even a back-biting self-cannibalizing mangy ferret group like the SEC fans. Missouri may be a bunch of wankers, but I'm willing to accept the as our bunch of wankers. Henceforth, I will stop making snide comments about whether or not they belong in the SEC. I mean, UK is practically Yankee and more Midwest Rust Belt than Southeastern anyway, and, let's face it, Florida is just New York's limp dick. So another group that's practically Yankees isn't going to change anything

bullshite. There are bad fans out there, but I've only been to one SEC home game (and I've been to home games at all the remaining SEC charter members at least once, and usually multiple times) where the fans weren't preponderantly nice to visiting fans. They might get a little over-exuberant and drunk on occasion, but they're rarely actively hostile.

Edit: And, yes, I've been to an Iron Bowl (in Tuscaloosa) and multiple Egg Bowls (both sides), as well as the usual assortment of UT/Vandy games, and the rivalries are just as generally civil on game day.

Then again, LSU hired DiNardo away from Vandy. Neither of our facts are anywhere close to being as embarrassing as that.

eh, Dinardo had a 10 win season and 2 shared division titles in 5 years. Dinardo's downfall was hiring Lou Tepper and refusing to fire him when his job was on the line. There have been much more embarrassing hires than that. Ed Orgeron, for one

Ole Miss is as far behind in the Magnolia Bowl as there is an Egg Bowl margin. We don’t like to talk about it

It is not really a stat but I was pretty embarrassed the last time we played Bama in Athens and the Georgia players ran over to where Alabama was running onto the field and were talking a bunch of junk and generally acting foolish. Then they turned around and got manhandled by something like 38-10.
If you are going to talk a bunch of smack, at least be able to back it up.

Ol' Miss should be 0-11. However, the NCAA shall see that your program is amply rewarded for its insolence.

I remember that. I believe UGA did the same against Clemson in Clemson

We know it isn't the truth. For some reason they seem to dislike us and made claims of that long before the Dawn Staley/wbb fiasco. So we've started "returning fire" at them. It certainly isn't all of their fans that are like that, but a large faction does seem to react to us, as a whole, in person, as such.

ETA: I will say that at tater games, no matter where they are or what sport, it can get very ugly on both sides and often does. Obviously that translates to the field as well...those games have come to actual throw-down fist fights between the two football teams in the past.

We haven't won a basketball conference championship since 1994.

We haven't won a football conference championship since 1969.

We were lied to about "Southern hospitality". If anything, the opposing SEC fans that have visited Columbia for a game say that we're "too nice".

Ah, the halcyon days of Richt & Co where the players had to try to motivate themselves in the only ways a college kid knows how: talking mad shite to someone better than you

The hazing is long and vicious, y'all. Just ask us and Arky. We know all about it. We were once the new guys and it stayed that way until y'all and aTm came along and took the heat off of us. So in a weird sort of way, I suppose we owe y'all a thank you.

Mizzou will never be accepted by some in the SEC because geographically, we are a midwest state. I'm cool with that, we are who we are.

P.S. Staley is still a sjw.

If we’re talking incidents also, and not just stats, several players started dancing on Vandy’s 50 after a close win in Nashville and CMR had to go get them off the field. That’s one of the specific moments where I knew the bar had fallen way to low under CMR.
