You could make the same argument that Auburn should have lost to a bad Alabama team that year.

my bammer friend says peterson didnt get the pick because julio was touching the ball while out of bounds, thereby making it "illegal touching" and a dead ball. yeah, i dont see it either. eric reid was payback.

I think the official rule is that if a player touches the ball while out of bounds, the ball immediately becomes dead. Julio was clearly out of bounds and touched the ball before Peterson gained full control. Incomplete pass.

you're right, julio was clearly out of bounds. where does he clearly ever touch the ball?

I've yet to see a good angle that shows he definitely touched the ball. That picture doesn't help either.

find the clip on youtube. doesn't look clear at all he touched it. and if he did, he hadn't stepped out of bounds yet at the point he may have touched the ball (his body was out of bounds but doesn;t look like his foot had landed). that wasn't the ruling on the field or after review regardless

Unfortunately, this entire play created a giant red herring of an excuse for the entire LSU fanbase regarding this game.
The reality is that LSU managed only 13 first downs, and 253 total yards all night long. Alabama beat LSU by every measurable statistic.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that; however, it removed any possibility of LSU winning that game. You should know after last year's game that anything can happen, even if an offense hasn't been successful all night
