Why do LSU fans feel it is necessary to tell us we are their rival?

Why would you want to go out of your way to get under someone's skin unless you harbored some pretty serious negative feelings towards that group? This really isn't that difficult a concept.

Why do Lsu and Arky fans do it to each other? Why do auburn and miss state fans do it to each other? When you argue with a group on a message board, you are going to try to get under their skin. That is the simple concept

Why do Bama fans feel it necessary to tell us LSU isn't their rival?

Works both ways.

Ohhh, OK. Now it's about getting under someone's skin; not about actually proving a rivalry or not.

You sure are putting a lot of effort forth just to get under someone's skin.

Because I don't see LSU as a rival. Neither does the majority of the fanbase. That's how it works. I wasn't raised to hate LSU. And until 2007, they were just a game on the schedule. A rivalry takes more than five years to develop.

LSU is a rival with whoever is on their level

before that was low so Ole Miss was their rival

then they got big and it switched between Florida and Auburn

now we're both at the top of the pile so it's us

it will change with whomever they're angry with at the moment

too bad Tulane couldn't stay relevant

That's like 60% correct probably - the LSU/Ole Miss rivalry went back to the late 50s when both teams were dominant. In the 90s probably our #1 was Auburn because we played some incredibly memorable games in that decade. In the 00s I agree it has gone from Auburn/Fla to Bama over the last couple years... we were too busy getting sodomized by Florida in the 90s to make any pretense of being a rival of theirs

And you were actually "raised" to hate another fanbase? Damn, some of you are pathetic

Bama fans consider LSU as a rival. The fact of the matter is, once a few of them saw how upset it made LSU fans when they claimed we "aren't a rival," it became a trolling addiction.

And all of you LSU fans have taken the bait.

Of course they consider LSU a rival..while not a "traditional" rival, the fanbases still loathe each other

Give it another 10 or so years of even remotely the same competition as the last 5..and then see if fans will say "they aren't rivals"

And if we're not a rival why do BAMA fans so often spell LSU as Lsu or lsu?

Because it's easier than holding down the shift key the whole time.

ETA: We're not the only ones that do it.

Exactly, even on TD, where the douchiest members of each fan base are present, I see a mutual respect between our fans and their fans. In real life it's even more obvious. As opposed to Auburn fans, who I'm polite to, but really want to throw a rock at for choosing such a shitty school.

The fact that this surprises you makes the difference clear.

This isn't exclusive to him, his family, Alabama, or even the south.

UA is not a rival, they are a team in the way...I would think the reverse is also true.
