Vandy… Tennessee… A&M has a real chance to make fist SECCG appearance… hell Kentucky took out a good Ole Miss team & gave y’all hell… South Carolina has a solid team… Mizzou is probably fool’s gold but they’re winning their games… Bama is not what they used to be but still managed to knock off the dawgs… Iowa state making a case… I could go on.
I've already addressed Vandy.
Tennessee is doing better because they have an actual good coach for the first time in a very very long time. NIL and Portal are tools that every school has at their disposal, but Tenn's upswing is 100% coaching.
A&M, we'll see how good they turn out to be, but could say the same as I said about Tenn. Finally get a good coach, finally start getting some good results. It's not because of the portal and NIL. Those are just tools that every program utilizes. AnM has recruiting in the top ten every year for a very long time predating nil and Portal, couldn't ever do shite with it. Good coach, suddenly you start to see results. Not portal or NIL related. In fact, in their case, you could say NIL and Portal fricked them up because they relied too heavily on it early on, diving right into the pool instead of getting their feet wet like the other smart schools did.
Kentucky has long been an "almost good" football program. NIL and Portal have not changed that. Their transfer QB from UGA not working out so well for them.
South Carolina is not a world beater, in fact they actually suck. Their own fans will tell you the same.
Mizzou won the SEC East back to back in 2013 and 14 I believe. They weren't bottom feeders for which NIL and Portal came along to "save" them.

Do I have to explain it, or do you kinda already know?
I know you are the most miserable Georgia poster here

Anyway yeah upsets were always a thing. This feels a little more 2007 + a little more here to stay.
The difference between App State-Michigan or Troy-LSU vs Vandy-Bama is that it felt more like Vandy earned the W rather than Bama choke.
I can legitimately say I am not afraid of playing anyone this year, and I’m saying that with acute awareness our team has flaws. Playoff is going to be a lot of fun.

It definitely helps with parity but kills just about everything I loved about the sport. Players are no longer loyal to a particular school or conference, but to who can give them the best NIL deals. Ryan Williams is without question the best player on our offense right now as well as a fan favorite. With all that said, I can't say with 100% certainty that he will even be in a crimson uniform next year.
This has become the NFL-lite where players are free agents who are loyal only to the money the school and the community provides them.

Couldn't disagree more. The games have been exciting but their ultimate lack of meaning kind of sucks.
I think that’s just the feeling of being an Auburn fan. You knew your season was over in July.

Props to you enjoying the general chaos despite not generally being a beneficiary of it.
I’m a huge fan of my team, but I’m a bigger fan of the greatest sport in existence that has given me so much enjoyment.
When the game is better, we all benefit. With one proviso
(God was either not listening or has a sadistic sense of humor when I asked him to exclude the stinking Vols as being good….ever)

You act like players were not being paid before this. lol
Come on man. These top players haven’t given a shite about the schools they play for in decades. It’s always been about the money.
Hint: Tua didn’t come to Bama from Hawaii because of his “love for Bama”. lol

It's going to still be the same cast of characters at the top of the playoffs at the end of the year.
Eh. Yeah. Probably. For the most part. I think you might see a few unexpected teams slip in there from time to time. The biggest difference though is going to be the lack of “undefeated teams”. Meaning that just because you lost a game, your season isn’t “over”.
Precisely. And it is solely because it's a 12 team playoff. It has nothing to do with NIL+Portal bringing parity.

So far, this has been one of my favorite seasons in a while. We thought NIL would gut the poors and kill parity… seems it has raised the floor instead. We thought the playoff would suck some life out of the regular season — nope.
I wouldn’t put money on shite this year & I love it. Nobody has depth and it feels like anyone can beat anyone.
I agree that LSU will end up with at least 3 regular season losses.

Been one of the better seasons I can remember.
Love it.

Look within your own conference

NIL and Portal didn't do that.
Diego Pavia was the difference maker and the reason Vandy beat Alabama.
Diego Pavia is at Vanderbilt because of the transfer portal and NIL.
NIL and the portal are 100% responsible for Vandy beating Alabama this season.
You are just wrong.

But how come Vandy couldn't beat Mizzou?

Because they shite the bed in overtime.

If you honestly believe that Diego's transfer to Vandy is the reason Alabama lost that game, you are going to be doing a lot of soul searching over the next three years.

Fair to say one player doesn’t determine a football game, but also fair to say they don’t win with whoever they have on the roster behind him.
He called him “the difference maker” — that’s probably fair.

Even if there weren't any (and there are), its biggest effect is bringing up a few mid-teams close to being really good and taking formerly elite/unbeatable teams down just enough to were they can potentially lose to say 7-8 teams instead of 2-3.
An example of the former is Miami and even Ole Miss and an example of the latter would be Georgia.
In previous years, it was fairly easy to predict the best four teams and at least one semi-final game. This year, it really feels like 8-9 teams could make the semis and at least 5 of those have a good enough team to win it all.
