You are trying too hard. I don’t know a single team that claims a NC based on FWAA...heck I’m not sure I’ve ever been aware of that poll. I do know teams that were awarded the NC using either/or both UPI and AP polls, and those polls were occasionally split. One of those was Alabama’s UPI Coaches poll NC in 1973, final poll taken before the bowl game.

I’m sorry. I missed the part where we are supposed to feel sorry for guys who already make millions every year for losing out on a couple thousand bucks.

If they can't survive in a college bowl game how will they fare in the NFL?
That’s not the point. The point is, once they get drafted, they automatically get the signing bonus (millions if they are first or second round). That’s life changing money so even if they get a career ending injury on the first day of NFL practice, they still have millions. If they get a career ending injury in a bowl game (or one of the practices leading up to it) they are out those millions.
Sorry but there are very few things that I wouldn’t quit or walk away from for 5 million. I might be a terrible person for that but I’d have 5 million reason why I would t give a frick.

A bowl game is part of the commitment that they need to uphold in return for a free ride and the opportunity to play professionally.
Says who? What would the NFL do if all of the top recruits unionized and refused to go to college? One of three things. They would either change their own rule and draft them out of high school straight into the NFL, form a minor league NFL and draft them, or force a change in the NCAA rules about “student athletes” getting paid.

It's nice how things come around. Coaches make crazy cash, but the players, who, are just as important, don't get a dime of cash
And now you are telling me a guy, who has been busting his arse for years and is broke as hell, might keep his boss from getting a minimal bonus?
I just can't imagine being outraged by this. Being upset over stupid stuff and getting offended or outraged is completely gone off the rails.
Guy is making a career decision in college. That's what a lot of us did That's what they are supposed to do. That's what that scholarship they get instead of money is supposed to teach them to do.
And now we want to criticize them for it?
Get off your high horse. Kid worked his arse off for that education. Now he has his first chance to start his career.
Maybe it's about more than just getting hurt. Maybe it's about preparing for the NFL. Preparing to be rich. Preparing to have a career.
The draft isn't that far away. Cut them some slack.

Actually is started after the 64 season....it worked for Bama since the Tide beat Nebraska in the Orange Bowl in 65 and won the NC since the rest of the top ranked teams lost.

Players that signed a contract to play football for a full ride scholarship should play in all games if they are healthy enough to do so. If they fail to do so, they should pay back the full amount of the scholarship for that year. Including travel, medical, and equipment expenses. These are some ungrateful, entitled snowflakes. Just my dumb ole opinion.
You're a moron. Really really dumb one.

It's called capitalism. Funny how we want everything as capitalist as possible, except for sports where we want things completely socialist. Cognitive dissonance.
Exactly.
