Called earlier. Got $15 discount on bill till August 2015 (when contract is up) they included Red Zone for free this season, and threw in HBO & Showtime for 3 months.

PSA: Called DirecTV this morning, threatened to switch to Dish, got $21 off my bill each month and NFL Sunday Ticket MAX for free for the 2014 season.

Got nervous that they were getting close to striking a deal and my bargaining chip would be gone.

I switched to dish network this week just to be sure....I am not confident that direct will pick it up in time for the first week of football season....I got a lot more tv for a lot less money with dish

Just called and told them I'd like to cancel. Was connected to the retention department. Told the man I am an LSU fan and having the SEC Network is a must so I would like to switch to Dish even if that means paying ETFs. He said ok I understand- we set up the cancellation date. Then he offered $21 off my bill. I said Welllllllll, dish is offering me a sweet NFL package as well (since I read on here Sunday Ticket was being given away free) and then he offered to throw in Sunday Ticket for free.

Pretty easy. 13 min phone call in all for me. And if they end up striking a deal with SEC Network I'll def feel like a boss

Those of you who are getting deals:

first,

Second, are you having to extend the contract?

Hmm. I don't know if I'd do that then. I wonder if you could make a provisional deal with them.

It would only make sense if you were determined to leave if they don't cut a deal.

If you said I will do it but only if you have SECN by _______ date. I wonder if they would bite on that.

DirecTV users remind me of ... they just keep stringing you along and offering you treats so you choose to remain on that leash.

Sheople people.

They have you well trained.

Once you agree to the treats, of course you are obligated to a contract extension.

I would stay with Directv regardless of SECN. Having said that, I feel like they will offer the SECN before Aug 14th.

Short answer, no. If (or, when) they pick up the SEC Network that will change - carrying it will entail a much broader package from Disney/ABC/ESPN and will include WatchEspn as part of it.

a couple of years ago DirecTV had some dispute with a provider and cancelled like 7 channels. i called and said my fiance wanted me to call and cancel. They gave me NFL network for free and $20 off my bill for 3 months.

a week later they came to terms and all the channels were back

im gonna get her to call when i get home today and get the NFL network for free again

I called this morning and got the Sunday Ticket MAX (RedZone & phone streaming) and $25.00 off my bill for a year. ($540.00 value)

Oh and she guaranteed that I did not have to extend my contract incase the deal with SECN fell through.

But keep talking out of your arse.

Does Charter or the other cable companies offer discounts like these? I only hear about them with the satellite companies.
