I wouldn't have guessed SEC fans would be so opposed to the free market.

How does paying players legally instead of under the table “destroy” anything?

Could you imagine the NFL with every player being a free agent every year.
That is what we have. Only a moron would consider this good for college football and only a moron couldn't see it coming.

Nobody was getting paid a million dollars under the table. Not even close. A $500 handshake, a co-signed $25k charger where payments were never made but dealership never repo'd, that's small potatoes.

Oh, so we’re good with paying players. Just so long as it isn’t too much.
You reward coaches to the tune of $11 million per & rake in billions, and then tell the ones who actually won the game, “here’s a couple hundred bucks. Go have a nice dinner on us.”

Retarded argument made by people who don’t understand what free market means.
CFB was a free market before NIL

coaches aren't amateur student athletes. Not sure why people alwasy try to pull a "gotcha" by bringing coaches into the equation. They are a completely and totally separate entity.

Prior to NIL the players were compensated well into the 6 figures in total compensation.

Making them university employees and paying them accordingly is the only way to fix this free for all. Nothing else will stand up legally.

They were already being paid for

so as soon as someone gets passed on the 2-deep the coach can fire/cut them and not pay out the rest of their scholarship/salary? Yeah that sounds like a phenomenal idea for collegiate athletics.

There's no way to truly "fix" CFB and put it back the way it was prior to like 6/7 years ago before it went off a cliff. The only thing you can do to really set it on the right path is to heavily and i mean HEAVILY restrict what NIL is and can be used for. Like jersey sales from the bookstore. Or other shite that is measurable. You can't just say "we want this guy to do a radio ad for our car dealership so we're going to pay him $5M". There has to be regulation.
They also need to scrap the insane free transfer allowance. It just incentivizes entitlement and laziness.

Yes I can. That's how it should be.
You guys have more hate for free market capitalism than AOC and Hillary combined.

Why are folks against players getting paid according to their worth? What skin is it off their back? Don’t watch if it bothers you that bad.
I guarantee you Bryce Young is worth every penny plus some to Alabama. If it turns out folks aren’t interested and the $$$ slows down, payroll will correct itself.

The revenue is generated by the program, not the players.
No Georgia fan buys a Gurley or AJ Green jersey if those guys play for other teams. No LSU fans were buying Knowshon Moreno jerseys. It's the university and athletic department that is the draw. Not the players. Nobody is following a hot shot high school recruit and then becomes a fan of whatever team he goes to and starts buying merchandise. That doesn't happen. Maybe his friends and family, that's it. Despite that fact, I still don't have a problem with college players getting a royalty of their jersey sales. Guys that break out and really deserve it, and are really selling the shite out of jerseys like Brock Bowers, should get compensated. But paying a high schooler a million dollars to come play for your school? That doesn't make sense. You are entitled to your opinion but know that you are in the minority. It's a very small minority of people that think the current system is just fine. That small minority may be very vocal and loud, but their numbers are small.
