We have things called "MLB" baseball teams. You know, teams that play in the large cities which our state has.

Barely has, their location in Missouri vs. the other side of the river is irrelevant.

1.4 million people live in Kansas City, Missouri. Over 2 million people live in St. Louis, Missouri. What does Little Rock have, 400,000 people?

You are a little dense. If they were the East St. Louis Cardinals or the Overland Park Royals, they would have the same support. Therefore it isn't because of the teams your state has, because support would be the same if you move the stadiums 20 miles.

What's your point? Are the teams in Missouri or aren't they? You're COMPLETELY missing the point.

You are seriously talking shite about city sizes?

Let me walk you through it.
1. You say no one supports MU baseball because there are other teams in the state (basically that fans only have so much state loyalty, and the MLB teams take it all up, leaving none for Mizzou)
2. You say support would be the same if the teams moved across state lines
3. Therefore, if the baseball teams moved the fans would remain fans even with state loyalties removed
4. Therefore the reason Mizzou has no fans is not because of this issue of state support, but some other issue

The SEC loves its baseball.
I was at the game tonight, and Mizzou only had a small number of fans. Not as many as you'd see from Auburn or State.
And nothing compared to what you see when LSU plays in Baum.
Not very SEC, IMO.

I never said anything about loyalty, that is coming from you. I said people from Missouri prefer to watch the MLB teams over the college team.

No, again I never said that. Also coming from you.

This would most likely be accurate.

Therefore, you have attempted to make this more complicated than it is. Mizzou has little fan support for baseball, because people are more interested in the MLB teams, as I already said.

Then Mizzou should have no problem attracting a few thousand to a home baseball game...unless you are a shitty fanbase.

I honestly don't disagree, there is not a good excuse for not bringing a few thousand to each home baseball game. However, whether a good reason or not, anyone who would be interested enough to drive to Columbia to watch Mizzou baseball is probably also more interested in the local MLB team.

Actually, you did. When I said non-baseball fans, I means fans of Mizzou that do not like baseball possibly at all. But your insecurity caused this overreaction. Please admit the following things/tell me what is wrong about them.
1. Missouri has a shitty baseball fan base
2. Missouri always will have a shitty baseball fan base
3. Missouri fans aren't passionate about the whole university as SEC fans are, which is the reason many SEC fans pay attention to the more "minor" sports
4. Identifying as a "Mizzou fan" should actually be called a "Mizzou football/maybe basketball fan" ONLY
5. Real "Mizzou fans" i.e. those who fully support the university and all its athletics do not exist
6. Derrick Bleeker singlehandedly outscored your entire baseball team, who threw their Saturday starter vs. one of our relievers

You can spin it however you want, but your reference about "non-baseball fans", or in other words Missouri fans in general (according to you), was basically you saying that people in Missouri don't watch baseball. I was stating that people in Missouri DO in fact enjoy baseball, but not at the collegiate level.
1. Yes, we do.
2. This is also correct.
3. Generally true.
4. Not true. You can still be a fan of the teams that represent your favorite school, regardless of how closely you follow.
5. Again, not true.
6. Congrats? I don't know why beating a .500 team is so exciting for you if you guys are so great.

True: 1, 6
Patently False:
2: We are going to be upgrading facilities and that should increase the attendance and excitement around the program. The reality is that people from CoMo will have to support the team more than KC and STL folk, as it's hard to get people to drive 2 hours to a midweek baseball game when they've got a professional game in their own hometown
3: Give me a break, we've got a passionate fanbase that is growing significantly. We're in the top 25 in attendance in both BBall and Football every year. Also softball has a pretty good following and I beleive baseball will get better if we can field a better freakin product.
5: I'm not even going to take this bait, although it looks like you did your part already as I responded to your post in the first place.

I have never felt like SEC baseball thrived because of the fans not liking or having access to MLB. Two different sports and two different atmospheres, IMO.
There's a minor league AA park 10 miles from Baum Stadium. Neither seems to suffer because of the other.

What do the teams that have good attendance in the SEC like LSU, OM, USCe, and Arky have in common? No MLB competition could be a possible answer.

I agree partially. It's simply not a big deal at Mizzou, MLB or not, but I also don't think the MLB pull can be downplayed either.

Our fans are also MLB fans. Like I said, there's a KC Royals AA affiliate with a shiny new stadium literally 10 miles from Baum Stadium, where you can buy beer and watch pros. Your assumption is that there's a finite market for baseball and that is the difference when it comes to Mizzou.
I just don't buy it. We're a small metro and we support both well.
