I'm not above starting shitty troll threads myself, but I typically only do it when UT does something to merit one. Otherwise, I'd come across looking like an Ole Miss fan. For example, I started a lol @ UF thread when we beat them in basketball.

It comes down to Arkansas. Wait... am I saying the Hogs are the measuring stick? No.
What am I saying is that last season the Hogs were the Mendoza line for passing. If you did not light us up for big pass yards then you sucked in the passing game.
The Vols, even with a hot start at home, did not light up the feeble Arkansas pass defense. It was a 4 point game only because Bert went borderline erotic at the end.
The Vols run of wins happened against the worst part of their schedule.
Unless they go full on spread formation triple option next year I don't see them finishing in the top ten. As much talent as they have, and they have a ton of talent, they don't have the passing game to beat the top teams.

While a legit statement, one has to note that not one of those teams would have been .500 even with the UT loss removed.

While I do like Josh Dobbs, he is a mediocre passer. His accuracy was absolutely terrible at the beginning of the season and got more in rhythm as the season went on. I think some of that had to do with competition, but really, I think it took awhile for OC Debord to figure out how to best use the skill players in addition to the OL getting better as the season progressed. The play calling got more consistent and made better sense later in the season.
We can go back and look at last season all we want, but the fact was that UT put out a pretty good product on the field. That pretty good product choked a few times, but hopefully they grew up because there is enough talent at every position to do damage in this upcoming season. I personally think the VOLS are about right at #15 preseason while acknowledging that preseason polls are next to worthless.

And that's fine to look at our last 6 wins and not be impressed, also take into consideration that our 4 losses to very good competition, 2 teams in the playoff, 1 team that was extremely dangerous but underachieved, Arkansas, and UF with a #roidedup Grier, were by a combined 17 points.
It's not as if we were getting blown out by decent teams. I'm not saying we should be in the top 10, but I'm fricking begging this board to be objective for once it's miserable fricking existence.
