Yeah, I think ya'll have a better chance at recruiting if he's gone. Those kids have mothers that don't want their kids anywhere around Petrino IMO.

One of my best sales guys got caught cheating on his wife and has spent the last two years fighting a bitter divorce. I'm not going to fire him over it though. That's his personal life and he still crushes his sales #'s which is all I ask of him.
Quota guy isn't a leader of young impressionable men, Quota Guy didn't cheat with an in-house employee(or was she?) that he had a hand in hiring, Quota Guy didn't lie to his employer about his infidelity(and most importantly in his case it isn't a situation necessarily requiring exemplary morality like holding a public position and/or at State U), Quota Guy's affair didn't expose you and your company's coffers to the possibility of hefty lawsuits/hush money(is your company endowed with 1B in the bank?)..
CBP is closer to say ex-Tider & Sexcretary..an inter-staff 300K gaffe..than Quota Guy.

I've been laughing my head off at that Royal Lifestyles commercial Razorlogist linked all night.
it's the only logical explanation.

You nailed it.
Sportswriters are already taking the slant of how he lied about going after the Auburn job when he was at Louisville and how he left for Atlanta and how he left Atlanta. IOW...this is a pattern of personal behavior and not a single incident of poor judgment.
Does UA want this type of distraction for the foreseeable future? (never mind the possible lawsuits)....Glad I don't have Long's job

From what I've read on the SEC Rant, I believe the vast majority of UA fans would say "yes", if he delivers 8-10 wins per year and keeps them competing for New Years Day bowl games.

What a lot of Arky fans can't get through their heads is this has nothing to do with morality. Petrino was an immoral Jerk the day they hired him and nothing since has changed.
This is a legal and HR issue. Period. It's all about can the lawyers and their Board of Trustees continue to protect their university from future lawsuits if they keep him.
Cheshire Hog, your sales guys indiscretions have nothing in common with Petrino. It's not about cheating on your wife or lying to your boss. It's about having an inappropriate
relationship that your head coach admitted to having with someone that he hired to be his direct subordinate.
This exposes the university to many future lawsuits if they don't fire him. If the lawyers can't find a way to protect the university from unseen liabilities than he is burnt toast.

I get it Tom; hence my comment about sanctimony.
The bottom line for me is this: Arkansas has too many built-in disadvantages to compete in the SEC without a tremendous coach. Personal shortcomings notwithstanding, Petrino is without a doubt a great coach.
Therefore, I think they will keep him if they can.
I know just enough about big-time college athletics to believe there are very few programs--if any-- that are operating from a moral high ground. I'm certainly not defending Petrino's philandering, but I believe there is a great deal of immorality throughout the college athletics. As always though, we tend to focus on sexual sins and disregard other character short-comings that are equally destructive.

Oh, I agree. There is nothing moral about big time college football. We are all dirty. If college football fans knew 1/4 about what really goes on in recruiting then any talk of morals in football would be put to rest.
If the U of A can legally protect themselves from future litigation then he stays, if not, he goes. It's that simple in my eyes.

Bingo. I want the Hogs to win football games. And IF(this is a big if) Petrino can survive and keep us winning, most Hog fans will gladly forget this stuff.
I don't think these teams are 'ambassadors' for the school. My college-aged kids(Arkansas, OU, Baylor) have far too many stories of wide-spread football player debauchery to tell for me to believe in the sanctity of our FB programs.
And personally, I find the sermonizing from some on this and other sites to be hilarious, and VERY ironic

A couple of points.
1) The potential liability from a sexual harrasment case (from what we know about) is negligible compared to the revenue generated by Razorback Football. Negligible. A risk managment analysis (provided this is a sole incident) means Arkansas keeps Petrino depsite his incredibly stupid actions.
2) No one outside of Petrino, the AD, the ASP, the Univsersity, Dorrall, their friends/family or the universtity have any standing to tell Arkansas what it should do.
So, rival fans can thump their Bibles and urge Arkansas to fire Petrino (or stone him), the truth is simple. Rival fans are rejoicing in Petrino's downfall because he beats their favorite football team or has the Razorbacks ready to do so.
I do admit, stoning him just a little does feel appropriate.

BP never would have been hired if Arkansas fans were content with finishing fourth in the SECw.

Why are you responding to my post with "Rival fans can thump their bibles" BS? Where in any of my posts am I thumping a bible? I don't give a damn if you keep him or not. I'm merely pointing out that this is a legal/HR issue. If he kept to screwing cocktail waitresses then he wouldn't be in this mess. But he was a total dumbass and hired his mistress and then went on a bike ride with her. Talk about stupid!!!!
One last thing, don't come to the SEC Rant if you don't want to read other schools fan's opinions on the matter.
