I don't really see how things could move all that quickly, but we'll see I guess.

They will have to wait until 2025 or whenever the big 12 deal is done, most likely. But they can set up the move now.

The schools left in the Big 12 might be willing to accept a big payoff, not sure how that would work out, but I'd give it at least a small possibility.

Why? Do they not have enough 'Ls' on the schedule yet?

Add another L on our schedule, it doesn’t matter at this point.

If this happens then Texas would be put in their place and told to STFU and do as they're told.

We came to the SEC because they made us an equal member, which no one is, in a Big 12 with Texas.

Then why do we own the league?

The writing has been on the wall for years now. There is no other close regional conference OU or Texas could join that can even their recruiting playing field like a SEC move can. If the PAC had been killing it this past decade in revenue and ratings it would be a hard decision, but that hasn’t been the case.

This is why I was so supportive of us hiring Jimbo no matter what it cost some Aggie oil men who would have blown the money on boats anyway. It’s been obvious for years now that A&M had a window of time to establish its program and get it built up and that Texas and OU weren’t going to sit at a conference disadvantage for forever. I think after last year and comparing to where the program was a decade ago it’s clear we have a more solid foundation than ever before in the modern era, and so bring on the games!

At the end of the day the sport is football and not 4D chess, and declining attendance/public interest was going to lead to some natural consolidation. I am glad the Aggies aren’t in favor of it in meetings, but Bama doesn’t give a shite if this hurts A&M recruiting and so it’s probably a done deal unless something political happens. The SEC then becomes its own mini conference that justifies its position in as many wildcard playoff spots that are possible, which helps every SEC team on their relative good years including A&M.

The most interesting questions are about what the current Big 12 does. Do they sue? Do they fight back? Is this already a done deal where they keep Texas and OU’s revenue for two years or something as a severance package? That seems possible and likely. Then the Big 12 will have a shot to suck in the best of the current G5 and compete with the PAC for fourth best conference with a little buffer room to maybe get a network started or something. New media deals mean exciting times for the sport and this of course won’t be the last domino to fall.

I disagree here. We left Texas because of how big a bag of douches they are.

Also, this will further kill our Texas recruiting, and adding TAMU killed it 90% of the way dead. This would finish it off.

Its a hard no from me. Hope our admins feel the same.

Arkansas fans have considered Texas as their rival basically their entire history.
