A buddy of mine just posted on Facebook that Pete is a better coach than Saban because he is winning at the next level. Do you buy that rationale?
I bet LSU fans are glad they ran Saban off.......Lester is doing a much better job don't ya think????

This thread is going just right.
The bama folks are backing up Saban and acting like what Carroll did at USC was easy as pie.

Backed his way into an NC and throws at least one game a year because of his poor decision making.

Not as easy as pie but nowhere in the same ball park as what Saban's doing at Alabama.
Carroll's only NC was vacated.
This is a dumb thread.

Are we really going to act like Carroll's NC didn't take place because the NCAA took it away. C'mon man.
Should we completely forget about what Carroll built at USC during his time there?

Agreed Carroll brang a shitty Seahawks team back to the playoffs in a good division. Something Saban could never do in the NFL. And Carroll has a ridiculous record in college to add to that.

NCAA doesn't recognize Carroll as ever winning a national title.
But we know what happened on the field and Pete put together a great run at SoCal. As Bama fans, we like to point to Stallings winning 70 games in 7 years although some of those don't appear in the NCAA record books as well as Saban's wins in 2007 that were vacated by the textbook scandal (it was bullshite, but it is what it is in the eyes of NCAA)
I don't think you can make a convincing case that one is better than the other. They both had the luxury of coaching at schools, in Saban's case two schools, that attract blue chip recruits and both delivered in spades. Saban could win in the NFL with the right team. If Brees had been cleared to play but the Dolphins, I seriously doubt Saban is the coach at Bama right now.

Carroll is working with a lot more talent than Saban ever had in Miami.

you do realize he's the one who's brought in most of this talent right? He was heavily criticized by everyone for choosing Russell over Flynn but it sure looks like he knew what the heck he was doing.
Both are great coaches, no need to argue who's better. any program in america would be lucky to have either one.

It's a professional league. Of course Pete wins.
