A buddy of mine just posted on Facebook that Pete is a better coach than Saban because he is winning at the next level. Do you buy that rationale?

For College Saban is making an argument for the best of all time with his time at UA.

Carrol is a better NFL coach and a great college coach but not on Saban's level at College. Both are very good just one is better suited than the other at specific things.

Precisely why i think Saban will head out AGAIN.

Why does everybody want Saban to leave? Are CFB fans so afraid of Saban that they don't believe their favorite CFB teams have any shot at beating him? I've never seen so many people united in wanting an opposing coach to leave.

This. I wouldn't let Carroll coach my dog.

As a Seahawks fan i could NOT STAND Pete Carroll.
But after years with the Seahawks ill stand behind coach Carroll all day every day. But as an LSU fan...SCREW NICK SABAN...but i would still rather have him as a college coach over Carroll. I dont think Saban could do in the NFL what Pete id doing though.

Carroll's nfl record is 56 - 54

Saban's is 15 -17

Not much difference in the winning percentages.

I've never understood this line of thinking. Obviously we can beat Alabama, we've done it almost as much as we've lost and even the losses have been super competitive except 1, but why in the world would you want it to be as difficult on your team as possible?

How is that a moral victory? He's talking about literal victories.

any NFL coach stepping down as automatically going to have a leg up in recruiting on someone who hasn't been in the NFL.

Meh......Of the Rivals top 25 recruiting class 22 of the top 25 schools have a HC that was not a HC in the NFL. The other 3 are Saban, Kiffin and Mora. Neither of those 3 were successful NFL coaches and most recruits who go to Bama and USC do so because they are perennial NC contenders.

No, because winning in the NFL isn't harder, it's just different. Saban is about to win his fourth national championship, and unless my memory is foggy the NCAA doesn't recognize Carroll as ever winning a national title.

Uh winning in the NFL is much harder. You can't recruit in the NFL and usually have to win with what your given. The salary cap in the NFL has made the NFL far harder than it used to be. Today's NFL team usually has a good offense or a good defense. Not both. In college , a top notch coach at a top notch program , can hand pick who he wants.

Come on dude. This discussion isnt about this. Im talking about the "drive" of a great coach. There is nothing that sYs he will definately stay. There is nothing that says he will head to the NFL. But he does read and listen. He hears the Carroll hype. Carroll took part of his national respect away from him in 2003.
Just having a rational conversation.
I for one hope he stays at Bama. We've beat him before and can do it again. To be the best and beat the best getting there, thats the goal.

NFL is harder to win in bro get real.

This. It's not even close. Far more parity. Far more. So much so that coaching is usually the deciding factor in wins and losses.

To say say one is harder than the other is stupid. Remember when the Seahawks went 7-9 and made it to the playoffs? If that was a college record your arse would be sitting at home.

If you don't think winning in the NFL is harder, you're stupid. Period. Usually a coach in the NFL doesn't have control of his roster.
It seems only gumps are saying the NFL isn't harder. Good god y'all are dumb.

Well Carroll failed in the NFL the first time, so that seems pretty comparable to what Saban did.

If you believe Carroll is a better coach than Saban, will you admit that USC was a better team than LSU in 2003? USC had a superior QB and a more talented team than LSU in 2003. Take away the coaching advantage and explain to me how LSU would beat USC that year.

More talented? 10/11 starters on LSU 2003 defense started for a NFL team. Get a clue.

That really depends on which college program you are talking about. College is a rich get richer environment.

NFL teams live and die on QB talent. Carroll is winning now because he has a heady QB. Saban didn't win at Miami because he fricked the QB situation up.
