Don't make a habit of this.

TeLeFaWx never answered. Maybe you will. How are you getting military hate from my posts? Our family went from Adopt a Troop care packages to providing a home for one of the guys for six months when he was having trouble adjusting back to civilian life. He was a grunt and it was rough.

Your premise backfired horribly when faced with actual data.

There's a lot of great info in the thread that I'm glad to know now.

Don’t dispute you at all. Most Eagle Scouts don’t go to the military either, but they do develop their skills. I would never downplay being one. I’m not one, but I’m the father of one.

Check out The Citadel to see the numbers. Just because they graduated there doesn't mean they take their commissioning. I knew a guy who graduated from The Citadel who turned it down after graduation and later had to go through OCS when he decided it was time. Some has to do with going into a field they want being available (I.e Aviation )and others want to pursue other options. Not a reflection of the school or program

I read your post and stand by calling out your anti-military posts. Delete this thread if you realize the error of your ways.

I did answer you. Calling the Corps a cheer club is as anti-military as they come. You should be embarrassed.

The CoC isn't the military though.

The point of it isn’t to be treated differently but you get a higher starting pay. Like our R&R Commander said, you can do a similar process with the recruiters. Either way it’s a good idea.

We had 2 Eagle Scouts in my BCT Platoon. I got along better with those guys than most of the JROTC folks.

About the only thing the JROTC kids had going for them was their pre-existing knowledge of Drill and Ceremony.

Give me a guy who was a leader on his high school sports team or Eagle Scout over the JROTC kids.

Best IET leader I had was my Platoon Guide at AIT. He was an E-4 because he was a college graduate and was VP of his fraternity chapter.

At the end of the day though, it's initial entry training. No one gives a shite. Just make it through and get to your first unit where hopefully you'll get a good team leader who will make you into a good Soldier.

Any A&M cadet who is wearing actual military ribbons and medals is prior service. You are allowed to wear cadet ribbons/medals or ribbons/medals you've earned in prior service/guard service/reserve service but not both at the same time.

Often one of the members of my outfit, who was USMC reserves, would wear his Marine uniform for Taps.

Are gay people allowed in the military?

Sigh. Yes. Even badass special forces guys.

The TAMU folks look more social club than gay though it's said about them on a lot on message boards. Kudos to the students who accept their commission and actually do serve in the military regardless of sexual orientation.

Why all the hate for the Corps? I don’t get it. It’s like your dick is too small or something like that.

I was a non-reg at A&M, and there is plenty that we made fun of the Corp about. But dedication, service and discipline are not one of them.

And thanks to all the Corps members that served, and those that did not serve also. Y’all were tough enough to do it.

Ok. I’ll bite.

How is the Corps “stolen valor”?

ETA: Can’t wait to hear this one and blow it out of the water.
