quote:Huh??? Adolph Rupp cheated? Where is your proof? For most of his coaching career he used players recruited from Kentucky high schools. Why would he need to cheat with them? No one accused Joe B. Hall or Rick Pitino of cheating whatsoever either while they coached at Kentucky. Sour grapes
UK has been doing it for over half a century. The only clean coach they had was probably Tubby Smith, and he got fired for it.

There's some famous quote where Rupp said "as damn much as we are paying these players you'd think they could run the plays". Can't find it on google but come on man. They were right in the middle of that massive point shaving scandal in the 50s.
Joe B Hall is implicated on your very own history site and don't get me started on Eddie Sutton. He was our coach too.

Your link doesn't support anything you claim. Aside from the point shaving, which obviously Rupp would have done something about had he known, nothing is alleged against Rupp, Joe B. Hall or Pitino. I'll give you that Eddie Sutton cheated; that's why he was fired after 4 seasons.

It doesn't bother me at all when people talk about Cal/UK cheating.

Adolph Rupp cheated.

Rupp was a nazi
also only a retard would raise their eye brows that we got simmons. It was known for well over a year Simmons was coming here because his godfather is on the coaching staff.
LSU plays above the belt in basketball, we hire god fathers to bring in our star players.

In his 1931-72 reign at Kentucky, the abrasive Rupp became noted for his ability to disregard and flaunt recruiting legality and remuneration limits for his players. As Ken Johnson, the incomparable KU court historian in Des Moines, points out: “In the 1930s and ’40s, 386 of the Wildcat wins were generated when there was virtually no oversight in college basketball. Transgressions never were penalized. Since then, though, the Kentucky basketball program has continuously been documented as one of the most criminal of all NCAA Division I schools.
“Rupp’s 1952-53 squad was nailed with what amounted to the NCAA’s first death penalty (cancelled season) because of payments to players. It all came to light during an investigation into a point-shaving scandal involving players during the ’49 season.” Kentucky won the NCAA title in ’48, ’49 and ’51 at the height of the horrendous fixing scandals; the NCAA never rescinded a trophy or a single victory.
A judge called Rupp’s UK program the acme of commercialization and overemphasis. He said he found covert subsidization of players, ruthless exploitation of athletes, cribbing at examinations, illegal recruiting, reckless disregard for physical welfare, matriculation of unqualified students and flagrant abuse of the athletic scholarship concept.

Me neither. Makes me laugh. If people aren't talking about you, you're not relevant...like Arkansas, but I digress...

So you could say LSU gave Simmons an offer he couldn't refuse. :rimshot:

beating arky is like the final four for cal.
Posted on 2/17/15 at 10:25 am to heartbreakTiger
it all started when one of his assistants at memphis state shoved one of our players.

Cal hates Arkansas because he cant beat them. He refused to play Arkansas while he was at Memphis, even though it was a storied rivalry game.

Care to address my post about how badly you despised that Cam Newton Auburn team?
What Auburn fan despises the 2010 team? I bet Bama paid more for their championships. Auburn's only cost 180K

I don't blame him. It probably causes him alot of shame to look across the sideline and see a beacon of integrity. The flagship does things the correct way while cal has to cheat like its some back alley poker game.

Cal/Arkansas goes all the way back to him being at UMass.
