That's as far back as my source went with reliable stats. While Saban did have a team that was ranked lower in per game penalties, he never had a team with as many per game penalties.

he also had two seasons at LSU where his teams averaged more than 7 penalties per game

I think I have seen the same thing in another game and seeing line shifts that were not penalized wondered exactly what draws a flag in this case.

Saban-coached team would never be ranked so low in penalties.
The worm has turned boys.

You're an idiot.

Alabama has always been one of the most penalized and one of the least or average in opponents being penalized.

Edit: Madmax beat me too it; guess I should read the whole thread before wasting 10 minutes responding.

Alabama, under Saban, was ranked last in the SEC in 2022 with 8.3 penalties per game. They ranked 129th out of 131 teams.

Here is where they ranked nationally the last 10 years

2023: 65
2022: 129
2021: 99
2020: 62
2019: 120
2018: 55
2017: 38
2016: 61
2015: 70
2014: 29

This is not something new. It isn’t good. But it isn’t new.

This is why people just roll their eyes when other fans complain about Alabama getting all the calls.
