The point of the article is about the current playoff/NIL, not the BCS era.
No dummy. The point is that the SEC has superior teams with top 15 talent and the National Championship trophies since the BCS era to prove it. The B1G to this day cannot compare to those dynamics.
That's now 8 different SEC teams since the BCS era, winning 16 National Championships. That math.

I don't think there are gonna be elite conferences anymore. It'll just be who gets the talent and can stockpile for one season like OSU did for last year.

I agree, except for stockpiling talent. Teams with more money will continue to do so.

Finebaum is a dumbass
But he isn’t wrong on this:
However, it’s not just in the SEC. There are no teams who on paper are a sure fire elite team in any conference.
OSU, Oregon, Michigan are all young teams with unproven QBs. PSU WR corp and DL are unproven, not to mention James Franklin. Notre Dame has a first time QB and lost their OL depth. Clemson returns a lot and has quite a bit of first round talent, but it’s not like they were great last year, just played in a shite conference
Should be a fun season with a lot of chaos, haven’t been many seasons where there’s no clear title favorite going into a season

As a Georgia fan, if we spent that kind of money and lost to Florida I'd feel differently, but maybe rivalries up North are different.

Rivalries up North are more heated, not the lovefest they are down South.

losing 4 straight to your rival is anything but heated. thats just being lil bro to Michigan

This is certainly true but a gump did drag his nuts across the face of an LSU fan. Everyone is a rival.

How can Ohio State be the most overrated Champion ever when they had the hardest road and the best playoff run in history? You sound like a HATER!
Posted on 7/2/25 at 9:05 am to BuckI
Aparently not. As I said, the money spent on a championship would not be "worth every penny" if we lost to Florida in the process but you do you man
Posted on 7/2/25 at 9:58 am to Dawgs2122
You are so full of it. A national title would be remembered long after a loss to Florida is forgotten.

SEC casts doubt on Paul Finebaum's analyst status
Posted on 7/2/25 at 12:05 pm to BigScoreboard
Is that why they hired him to be their mouthpiece?
Posted on 7/2/25 at 12:47 pm to BuckI
Yeah I don't feel that way. Oh sure, I'd celebrate the National Championship, but It would feel a bit wrong. But like I said, I guess some schools don't take rivalries as seriously. Are you going to change the name now? I mean "The Game" seems a bit much for a rivalry that only sort of matters.
BTW, Javon Bullard's hit was clean.
