Overlooking the typical rantard stuff, while Saban will probably never eclipse Bryant at Alabama or the NCAA, he has the chance to do some very special things.
No coach in FBS/Div. I has won a NC at more than one school.
If Ingram were to win, Saban would have the first Heisman winner at Alabama.
If Bama were to go undefeated and win a NC this year, it would be the first 14-0 season at Bama.
It is safe to say that Saban could very well cement his legend at Alabama IF this season were to play out like that. The odds of all that happening are pretty slim, but anything is possible.
It is much harder now because of the SECCG as well. Back in Coach Bryant's day the SEC Championship was based on regular season victories versus SEC opponents. Alabama would have been SEC champs last year and played in the BCS title game if that was still the way it was done.

Wise post, this is the way of our world! Coaches at his level get paid so well, why not enjoy some of their life after accumulating a small fortune! I truly wish your team well the rest of the season with Saban. As long as you have him, you will have very good if not excellent teams.
Of couse, having Bama just down the road to the SEC Commish in Burninham, doesn't hurt...

Saban by a mile. Bryant coached in an era when the NCAA turned their head, and scholarships were a full ride for the entire player's family. Bryant was a crook, and even bama fans will tell you that.

As long is Urban is in the SEC, Saban will not win 7 BCS championships.

What exactly makes him a crook? You have to take something to be a crook.
Bryant was a teacher and a snake oil salesman, he took advantages of schoalarships by hiding football players on basketball and baseball teams. But you can't fault someine for taking advantage of a loophole.

Until Coach Nick Saban calls a press conference and tell the reporters that Mama's calling he will never be like Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

Seriously, any coach in today's vastly more competitive environment who can win 7 championships in 22 years has probably sold his soul to Satan. Not Saban, Satan. The guy downstairs.
