I mean 6 miles, surely there's cameras somewhere, traffic light camera, something.

Even if you had already left by then, please check your cameras or phones. That car may have been parked behind you before the drivers ever showed up. You just never, never know. You could have taken a random selfie and the thing is parked behind you.

Black, 4-door Toyota Camry (they think) with tinted windows. Like the guys mom said in the video, any small piece of a plate (the state, a letter or number, anything) could help.

Very true, but for me, does not help. I left work, grabed a beer from Rouses, and walked to my parking lot on Basin St. And I didn't take any pictures. Really wish I could help.

And in true NOPD fashion, didn't they take a couple hours to show up?
No wonder all crime is down, except violent crimes. Police response is so bad, I'm sure a lot of small crimes aren't even reported, because well, NOPD is so severely understaffed.

I could be wrong, but I think due to cameras, the police know the route the driver took.
Police response is the problem.
As soon as his friends called 911, NOPD, and state police should of been all over the Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, Treme, and CBD, looking for the car.

NOPD is horribly understaffed and they don't even lie about it.

This is horrible and that's coming from an Army guy, I can't believe not a single bank ATM, shop surveillance, or ANYONE for that matter didn't see shite.

If I were the parents I would sink every dollar into findings these fricks ( looks like they are) , and literally pound on the NOPD's door until someone answered to help me.

NOPD is terribly understaffed and has had a TON of crime plus Mardi Gras details to contend with since this occurred. Apparently, between security cameras from businesses and private citizens, they have enough detail to know the exact route this "person" took on their escape route out of the French Quarter and on the Interstate.

Police reveal escape route taken

But most of those security cameras focus plainly on the sidewalks fronting the stores and businesses, so the street detail isn't that clear. Plus it was dark, the car was dark, no front license plate, and the windows tinted, so they have very little in the way of unobstructed views.

From what the family has said, the NOPD has been helpful and the people of South LA have been giving them an outpouring of support. There have been plenty of pleas for locals to come forward.

This new plea focuses on people who were in town and left before this was a news item locally. That's the point. There are probably people who saw something or have a picture of something that don't even know they witnessed a crime.

Locally, they said a month ago they could see people on the street on all of the security camera footage. They could see people turning, pointing, getting out of the way, etc.

THOSE are the people they are trying to reach with this message. So if you had a friend or relative in the FQ that night, please forward the news story to them. They could help solve this case and bring some peace to this guy's family and friends.

So, basically one of the most popular cars out there? Hell, I caught an Uber ride from someone driving a black 4-door Camry.

The Uber driver was not driving the car that hit him. They had just made eye contact with their Uber driver a half block away when he was struck by another car. This came directly from the couple standing next to the victim.

It happened near Cafe du Monde and then the driver went the wrong way down some one way streets getting out of the FQ.

That's a lot of surveillance. You sure you want the government involved so much? I thought you were against so much government involvement?

Never said it was. Just saying you aren't going to find a black Camry because they are so common.

That does increase the degree of difficulty. Also why they are still pleading for help and clues.

This doesn't even take into consideration that they have not even said they are 100% certain it is even a Camry.

This is one of the clearest images they have released. But because the car is going the wrong way down a one way street, you can't see the license plate. The cameras are pointed the other direction.
