I won't name names, but there was a girl there while I was that was paralyzed from the waist down by a drunk driver. She had a special SUV so she could drive. She drove drunk several times. shite was stupid.

Just saying that you know some people will try and drive. This topic makes me a little grumpy because of paralyzed friends that have been hit by drunk drivers and are going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives and they are considered lucky to have survived. I just tie getting drunk to driving. I sure it won't be that bad, but I always thnk of them first.

If you think selling warm beer has ever kept anyone from drinking and driving you are naive

FWIW, we went to wet Sundays not too long ago here in Louisville and it's made no difference in drunk driving statistics.

A little off topic, but dry counties are just as much as issue for drunk driving as wet counties. If someone has to drive a county over to go to the bar then they're going to have to drive back a longer distance drunk. Totally defeats the purpose of the law to begin with.

Ok so lets think about this logically.

1. If someone buys cold beer and they drink on the way home, what does that realistically give them? Enough time to drink 1 beer? Irrelevant. And on top of that, Mississippi is the only state that allows driver to LEGALLY drink while driving as long as they are below the limit. So once again, irrelevant.

2. If people were already drunk when they bought the beer and then drank more on the way home, then guess what? They were already drunk to begin with and were already in the wrong.

Any questions?

I get what you are saying. It's going to happen and Oxford is still going to be the best town in the world. I have an opinion, you have an opinion. Whatever, it is happening, I just don't like the idea. I like Oxford just the way it is.

That's what all the Bible Beaters said in GA when they legalized Sunday sales last year... but in the year it's been legal, not one single fatality from DUI on a Sunday from people buying retail alcohol. But it turns out it wasn't bible beaters, it was restaurant lobby using Christ as an excuse to be greedy.

I'm just tired of the excuses. I feel for your friend, I really do, and it's a shame that that happened. But the fact are that cold or Sunday sales in no way affect drinking and driving injuries and fatalities.

I agree. It's no different than taking the beer home and putting it on ice and then driving later.

You might want to get out of your podunk MS town more if you think anything in that state ranks the "best."

Going to need to see their evidence behind that. Because Mississippi isn't last in education anymore.
