Look at the OP title, won/loss history

Texas owns OU like
Texas owns Alabama

To be truthful OU's history of titles eclipses Texas.
Alabama's titles does the same with Texas
18-4

You think that some minor team having a winning record over Alabama means anything to Bama fans.

Since 1970 OU has 4 titles to Texas's 1, and OU has more wins.

what about my post was "overconfident"? I'm never overconfident in rivalry games. I've been going to the RRR for many years and have seen the underdog win a lot. In fact I think the underdog has won something like 17% of the RRR games.
We should be favored this year but that does not equate to a guaranteed win. Oklahoma will be ready I'm sure.

are we talking legit titles?

After WW2 the poll titles are legit
Before WW2 there were others.

Your argument(s) are with them.

I went with since 1974.

50 years sounds like a good number, covers probably 90% plus of the posters here, so it’s the history they know.

Since 1970,

OU has won 509 games and 4 NC

Texas has won 448 games and 1 NC

Both schools have good programs, but OU has clearly been above Texas in the last 40 years. Not even close.

Historically, OU has a better program than Texas. Not many teams can say that, but they can.

But they are our #1 rival, and we have the all-time scoreboard on them. That counts for something too, but I'd rather have more titles.

Since 1970,

Such an arbitrary number to pick.. why would you pick that number? Oh, right.. Texas won in 1969 and 1970 and dominated OU in the 1960's.

Clown.

We both have 4 since 1960. I'm not going to count the wins. One team has more, and one team has less..

I have a hard time believing that A&M is not your biggest rival… You might not like to admit it, but I don't really see the animosity between Texas and OU, and I have lived here in Texas for 27 years

I think it's an age thing. Young people tend to think OU is our biggest rival. Older folk tend to lean more towards A&M being the biggest rival. For me, OU is our biggest.

They are both rivals, but they are very different.

If forced to choose, I'd keep the Oklahoma game and let the A&M game go.. and I would have said the same thing before A&M left for the SEC.

Have you been to the game in Dallas?

Another important point, most games between Texas and Oklahoma have meant something on the national stage. Both teams have been ranked, and ranked high for a lot of the games. Regardless of rankings, either team can win.

It's the exact opposite for A&M games. One team is almost always significantly better than the other, and that team usually wins. It is rare for both teams to be good at the same time.

My mom graduated from Texas in the 70's, and she says A&M was just another game back then. It was OU and Arkansas.

As for animosity, until recently, I knew very few people that went to Oklahoma, but I have a lot of good friends that went to A&M.

I hate Oklahoma football, but I respect their program and it's usually one game a year, but I hate losing to A&M. It fricking sucks.. because I will hear about it pretty much every day for the next 365 days.

Both rivals.. but different. In my eyes, OU football is #1 and it isn't all that close.

Other sports? Yes, that is different.

Because tx has no retort for the past 88 years, I threw them a bone to give them a small moral win

It's 66 years.. and we also have all time scoreboard.. are you going to go full aggie on us?

Everyone here acknowledges that you have the better record recently..

This isn't difficult.
