OU softball on pace for 200 Home Runs

With 5 more home runs today OU breaks Florida's SEC home run record with a ton of games left to play. The 2021 OU team has the Ncaa record with 126 home runs. This team will crush that. And true freshman Kendall Wells leads the nation in home runs by a mile. Unreal

Think OU will shatter home run and runs record …

25 run rules in 31 games so they are doing this in 5 innings most of the time.

OU definately had some sluggers but even their smaller players are crushing home runs .

I need to go back into my post history and recall who the old school SEC idiot was that was poo-pooing the 800 lb. OU gorilla softball team. No doubt OU has reloaded from last year and will be the favorite to win it all. To say otherwise is more than foolish.
Edit, Found it was a Georgia genius, Chip82. Damn near called Oklahoma softball overrated. It pains me to have to say it, but it's true, Oklahoma Softball is more than just a big fish in the SEC pond. They're killer whale level. Texas and Florida may be the only SEC schools that can take a bite outa that whale, maybe.

You lost to Arizona.
Jordy Frahm pitched for Nebraska today and beat Texas Tech.
Oklahoma is now one of several big fish in the SEC pond.
The days of being anointed as the odds on favorite are over.

So why do your seniors sux so badly?

Whats ironic is their away/home schedule so far:
Away: 21 games
Home: 13 games
And OU started season with 17 road games in a row.
Still have the toughest teams ahead and pitching is suspect but getting better. When they face top teams can they keep scoring enough to cover pitching.

Let’s talk about that OU offense…
Where the Sooners rank nationally:
.448 Batting AVG. (No. 1)
412 Hits (No. 1)
127 Home Runs (No. 1)
.540 On Base Percentage (No. 1)
415 RBI’s (No. 1)
12.88 Runs Per Game (No. 1)
.940 Slugging Percentage (No. 1)
425 Runs (No. 1)
Away: 21 games
Home: 13 games

I think because there's only like 1 or 2 in the starting lineup lol.

He was not wrong...
As an OU fan... in the Big XII... we had to deal with Texas and OSU...(Texas Tech hadn't started buying superstars yet)....
In the SEC... Good grief... Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida are all pretty close or at OU's level. A&M, Arkansas, LSU, Miss. State, Georgia, Auburn and Kentucky are all really good. Ole Miss made it to OKC last year. Missouri and South Carolina have solid programs.
Top to bottom... Softball may be the SEC's best sport. And that is saying something because the SEC as a league is good at everything.

They don’t suck but here’s a possible reason.
Patty had a monster class that started in 2021. Those players won a title all 4 years, pretty rare in sports. Meaning backup players got less playing time. Plus some top recruits didn’t want to sit behind those players.
So after they graduated Patty had to reload the roster. And her younger classes are great currently.
Not saying 100% thats why. Also, this is only a home run stat and doesn’t include other achievements.

Although we are hitting great when we face the better pitchers we could struggle. A good example is Mon night we played our 3rd game at Ole’Miss. We were down 2-1 in T6 (they play 7) and got a grand slam and won 5-2. Can’t always count on that.
In softball if you have a ace pitcher they can take you all the way. We don’t have that yet but one of the pitchers has been improving all season. That could make the difference once they get in playoffs.
Nebraska has Jordy Bahl and will ride her in all big games. They were nothing before she arrived and that also helped them recruit other good players. Shows how valuable an ace pitcher is.

And to think Jordy would have been a Senior at OU this year. Probably looking at 6 straight nattys.

I always laugh at the annual spring OU softball threads that are just back and forth between OU fans.

Why?
You're an Oklahoma fan boy.

No he’s not. He always chimes in when OU wins something but he is not an OU fan. He bandwagons teams that are having success usually

Maybe it's because there are only 5 seniors on the team – and two of them are pitchers.

Nah, just some very athletic girls. And not that big, actually.
