All of the 2020 Oline class went to the NFL early. Then we had a bad Oline class. Then mixed results due to adjusting to NIL world. In a weird way our Oline was a victim of its own success.

Alabama and Oklahoma made sense when it was a necessary evil to live there, because it was a professional sports factory and that was how you were able to earn. Now you can do that anywhere. Come to Austin for a year and get an orange Lamborghini, etc.
Alabama has a history second to none, and Tuscaloosa is a pretty cool town, and the campus is beautiful. You cannot compare OU to Bama.
And the kids wanting orange lambos are short lived and entitled. Not the sturdy kind that are the backbone of a program. You may catch lightning in a bottle with them, a la Miami, but you will never last.

I think you can compare them.
All things considered, the Instagram generation Z doesn’t want to live in a craphole state or city, especially if that’s where they grew up and have been dreaming of neon lights.

Horns have rarely suffered from a lack of talent. The issue is development and focus. Distractions inside and outside the program is the killer, and it won't change in the SEC. Likely it will get worse.

That said, they are going to struggle now that NIL is a thing. I recently went to Norman and was absolutely stunned how brutal that town and campus is. It is basically a run down suburb of OKC. I can’t imagine there is a worse town/campus in the SEC.
Norman is actually very nice around the campus... and the campus itself occasionally gets mentioned as one of the nicer ones in the country on those lists... So a lot of people feel differently than you do.
The rest of Norman isn't much... until you get out on the edges where the new developments are...
Norman isn't all that different than Tuscaloosa or Gainesville in terms of feel. But it is a suburb and that actually works to its advantage. Part college town/part suburb.
As far as NIL... it is a matter of prying it loose from the people who have the money.
