For this season, at least, the SEC is the most overrated conference in football. Unfortunately for Oklahoma, the Sooners have to play every one of the teams you mentioned above – and a couple other "respectables" as well.

I don’t think OU is bad necessarily, it’s just y’all matchup very poorly with Tennessee this season since our defensive line is our strength on defense. Should be interesting

Seth as the OC and being an OU guy sounded like it made sense when the hire happened, but you have to be able to adjust and work with the pieces you have. Jackson with now 3 starts and no O-line probably shouldn't be running more/less the offense Seth had in place at North Texas. We need to spread the field out and utilize the strengths we do have and adjust to our weaknesses. It's not going to win a national championship but for Christ's sake, maybe we won't almost lose to Houston.

Compared to who else? It only works if we are overshadowing someone else. The ACC can't get out of their own way, ask Vandy. The B12 is a pile of midtier teams fighting for the ONLY bone. This brings us to the B1G. That thump you just heard was the wolverine's wake-up call. Penn State had to hold on against Bowling Green. Oregon kicked a last-second field after coming from behind against Boise State. That's 2 weeks in a row they look like anything but that glorious team on everyone's hype train to the NC game.

The SEC is a very top-heavy conference. Always has been.

I don't mention UGA because they are an NFL south team.

We shall see.

I think Texas (Sark) is trending whereas Kirby (UGA) is just trying to hold his ground.

The Texas trend may not be strong overcome UGA, but then again it might.

You might be right. But history has shown for YEARS that Texas will have a great win early on, hell even beat OU and lay 2 turds to close it out.
I fear Sark is finally turning that around , I prefer when Texas is soft lol, so we will certainly see.

So you're saying there's a potential forecast for a 3-2 battle on September 28th?

Please read my post again! None of those other conferences you mentioned are/were rated anywhere close to as highly as the SEC. The SEC is expected to manhandle the teams they lost to/struggled with on Saturday. And, yes, I'm including Oklahoma.

Lots of parity = lots of bad football.
That said, the portal and reloading of teams every year instead of every 2-3 years is why everyone looks so damn bad. Might be time to consider a preseason scrimmage or games to help people gel.

I could have just as easily left at the B12 and ACC altogether. This argument is only about the SEC/B1G. The B1G is being pushed just as hard as the SEC. They happen to be dropping a little this week and that's about it. Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan were their top-heavy teams starting the season. They have struggled as much as any SEC team, so far.

The SEC is certainly not overrated if we compare ourselves to the B1G.

Okies will be fine. Maybe the SEC should have added the Cowboys instead if they are already pissed about the Sooners

Highly probable if we can't get this thing called OFFENSE working. Littrell's seat just got scorching hot. When they had the camera on Littrell late in the game when he was on the radio to JA, it was clear he wasn't coaching him when he needed it on the radio. He was just calling in the plays. One moment I noticed he had over 20 seconds left to talk to his QB and he just closed the mic. Not a good look. Be a coach or a radioman calling in plays. I think Littrell is just being the radioman. Not good. The discipline on our OL is EMBARRASSING. No punch and one moment our center losses his cool at the WORST TIME... When we're KNEELING THE BALL IN VICTORY FORMATION! Could have cost us the game and handed the ball back to Houston with 35 seconds left in the 4th to potentially win it. This Offense is just pure garbage. I haven't seen an OU Offense this bad since the 90's under Smellyberger and Blake.

I thought you guys knew what you had when you turned loose of Gabriel? That guy is the only player keeping Oregon afloat. That may end up being the sooner's greatest regret.

Pressure is on Vern for letting him walk. If Arnold doesn’t turn it around and DG keeps doing what he’s doing, it’s going to get ugly.

The Big Ten is only in the conversation because of the media rights deal with Fox, CBS and NBC. The fact that they added four schools from states where football is a second or third sport should have zero impact on perception. The interest in football at those schools is only due to the fact if the big name coaches. If you have some up and coming coach at Oregon or USC, you wouldn’t have nearly the expectations. Hell, Washington already lost a coach who got them to a title game last year, and in Seattle college sports will never be a big thing like they are in the south. It’s a professional sport market like Los Angeles

As it stands, like Michigan, OU only has one returning starter on offense currently playing. That is Gavin Sawchuck at the RB position. Anytime you only have one returning starter on either side of the ball, you are going to be royally screwed that season. No way around it even factoring in the transfer portal.
