Lastly, judging college player's ability to move to the pros is nothing like judging high school players to move to the college game.
Venables took this punch to the gut because some politico forced it on him, to keep his job.
Zero coaches on that staff - who have been recruiting for years - are going to want to listen to this dweeb who never even played.
Somebody jelly!

Nobody’s jealous of a freaking GM role.
They can only do so much and at the end of the Day, the best players are still going to pick the highest bidder

I did not know GM’s were in charge of compensation. I assumed that was more on the AD, or CFO of the athletic department.

I don't know how they do it at other places... But at OU the guy they had as GM before this guy was in charge of negotiating NIL deals.
It would be interesting to learn how they do this at different schools given that all this stuff is so new.

Arkansas was the CFO from the athletic department…I thought the same at Florida, but the GM did throw out an NIL number. My son promptly signed with an agent after that…lol. He said why would I get paid the same as (some other guy)? I said I don’t know but I absolutely can’t help you with that.
I have no idea when that negotiation takes place.

Nagy ran the senior bowl for years and has been in 6 different nfl front offices
As a scout and player development he has an impeccable reputation and knows everyone in the nfl. Venables and Nagy will work side by aided to field a championship level team . In one to two years everyone will be on level playing field and gm jobs may change but who you give the money to is up to each school . Some school may value retraining players … some may use it mostly for recruiting … wel see how it plays out but atleast the highest bidder won’t be getting the best players finally .

Yeah, fans automatically assuming because you have a GM with experience that automatically translates to a championship team is ridiculous
North Carolina hired a guy that was an NFL GM and Nebraska just hired a guy with tons of experience. Everyone will have their guy.
