I have seen this topic discussed before and wondered what everyone thought of it. I personally think winning the conference is more impressive.

Final 4 will always be perceived as the bigger accomplishment. This year though winning the SEC was probably the bigger one given how loaded the conference was.

Of course, but would you rather win the SEC or make the elite 8?

I think that winning the conference regular season championship is a bigger accomplishment. Championships matter, even if just a conference championship. Plus, there is only one (barring ties) SEC conference champion each season versus 8 teams in the elite 8.

With that said, based just on the unpredictability of one and done tournaments, making the elite 8 may be harder. In a one and done like the NCAA tournament the better team doesn’t always win. A cold shooting night can send a great team home and conversely running into a mid team on a night they can’t mias can too. The better or at least one of the better teams wins the conference title and not the hotter shooting team on a given night.
