Lines already dropping on the UGA-UT game:

@DavidSPaschall: Must be significant early action on the Volunteers, because Georgia has gone from a 19-point favorite to 17.5 in a couple of hours.

The only two teams I think can safely cover would be Ole Miss and Kentucky. The rest are too risky and I'm a gambler. Ole Miss will pound the snot out of Memphis, and as long as Vandy doesn't have any 100 yard returns, I think Kentucky will easily cover.

No way they don't cover after this past week.
I think LSU will absolutely kill NM State this week.

First off, you got a bad taste in the mouth from this week to deal with, so expect some serious effort from both lines.

Secondly, basically every skill position on offense is still up for grabs. You now have Jennings fighting Harris for the QB; Dural, Diarse, Dupre and Quinn all fighting to be the top 2 WRs; RB has the 2 seniors trying to hold off Fournette and Williams. They might not have played well against Moo State, but that just means this game is an open audition for everyone.

That means quality players will be trying hard late, no matter what the score is.

Or maybe you and clemson are not nearly as good as you always think you are.

Good friggin lord. This is almost as bad as the GT/GSU line.

Have you seen the UT o line? There will be quite a few drives that look like the second half of the Clemson game.

UGA is a different animal at home.

And y'all accuse USC of not being able to move on.

I'd stay the hell away from it. A&M was favored by 10 in 2012 and won by 48. A&M was favored by 20 in 2013 and won by 12.

A&M 9 point spread... that's about a 75% the good guys win? Seems about right.

Agree w/ everyone that UTk line is too high. My gut is in the 7-10 range.

Ditto. I'll rag on UT til the cow-tippers come home, but nothing they've done so far, not even the mistake-laden OU game, justifies that kind of line against UGA. Not saying it won't happen, because UGA does have a potent offense when it's clicking, but the line is still excessive.

Some interesting factoids... UGA has won the last three in the series. Note: two of the following teams were Dooley Coached.

Margin of victory for last three games:
2011* - 8 pts
2012* - 7 pts
2013 - 3 pts

Total combined margin of victory = 18 pts over 3 games for and avg. of 6 pts.

These were hardly great teams but we tend to play UGA well more often than not and we tend to start showing our depth issues later in the season.

---------------------
For those interested in the TLDR or gory details regarding these teams that managed to play UGA well:

2011 team was the first to not go bowling in ages. It's also worth noting the 2011 team lost to a bad UK team forced to play a WR for QB AND had the dubious distinction of breaking 26 game winning streak (Bray and a few others were alleged to have said they "didn't want to go to shitty bowl). TBH, this is the game that Dooley should've been fire over as the play was flatout pathetic even taking into account the claims that some underclassmen had said that about going bowling. It was poor coaching all around and plenty of Juniors and Seniors as well as underclassmen did came to play but they couldn't make up for the poor play of the underclassmen or the obvious lack of discipline and poor coaching by Dooley

2012 team: Lost to Vandy despite having Cordarelle Patterson (WR/NFL), Tyler Bray (QB/NFL), Justin Hunter (WR/NFL), Zach Rogers (WR/NFL for a time). In many ways the result at Vandy which was a beatdown was the, final 'frick you' to Derek Dooley by Bray and the entire team due to Dooley's decision during the Mizzou games. This team could score almost at will against most teams (offense was simply amazing that year as well as the year before) but it was also paired with the infamous Sal Sunseri 3-4 D a.k.a worst D in UT history.

Even so, it should've been at least 6-6 but in the game prior to Vandy against Mizzou Dooley infamously decided not to try to score or even get within FG range despite having plenty of time and instead made the decision to send it to OT despite plenty of time to at least time. The Mizzou game is the game Dooley quit and did so in front of everyone watching. It finally enabled us to fire him so it wasn't all bad.

It was also marred by pitiful depth and as the season wore on that began to show.

2013 team: Jones inherited a team that lost every single piece of of its receiving game. Not only did we have to replace our QB there wasn't a single WR/TE on that team had a meaningful number of snaps. It was also full of Dooley players used to quitting not only in the 2nd half but also in the the half of the season and to say that it had no depth would be an understatement. Dooley not only didn't recruit key positions but the attrition of his and Kiffin's classes was truly amazing (so bad that we were facing a post-season ban due to our APR which was largely attrition based). This team played walkons true froshies and regular true froshies all over the place.

Even it's bright spots included playing UGA to OT and beating SC but Worley got hurt in the SC game and we were forced to start our 3rd QB. Lack of depth really started to show in the latter half of the season where much of the team was playing with injuries that should've put them on the bench (2012 had been bad but 2013 had to set a record in the lack of depth dept. - there are few words to describe the depth situation there even pitiful doesn't cover it). However, the coaching difference was immense - everyone who watched saw a team that despite it's issues was miles ahead of Dooley's in many ways.

2014: We still have no depth on our oline despite a fantastic recruiting class but Dooley went a full cycle without recruiting a lineman - not ONE - and there's simply no way around that situation. This lack accounts for why we're playing 2 true froshies on OL and why even the OLs who are sophs and above are undersized. What's more Dooley simply did not bother getting these guys meaningful snaps when he could've.

Did I mention frick DOOLEY?
