Lafayette had three of their pitchers taken in the first round, two others went in the next four and all five made the Majors ... so, there's that.
That may still be the greatest pitching staff I've ever seen on one team ... and they peaked at the right time.
If I remember correctly they ran into a Stanford buzzsaw in their Omaha bracket and I think Stanford lost to LSU in the finals. LSU went undefeated in Omaha and maybe in their Super.
LaLa finished third or fourth in Omaha but those two Stanford and LSU teams were complete packages.
Ray Tanner later admitted that he screamed and hollered and put too much pressure on our 2000 club/kids headed into that Super Regional. After that I think he hired Chad Holbrook to soften things up a bit and lower the temperature some.
Tanner was/is a hubristic egotistical dick.

It was funny watching TV's face, from the dug out last nite, when one of the Vol's hitters was called for game delay strike. You could tell he was itching to charge the ump but settled for almost chewing his lip off. He is apparently still working on Mastering His Domain.
