Here is a further breakdown.

I created this chart and averaged the 12 teams, then compared each team during a period against the average.. not sure if this is the right output for the data, but I think it's a valid comparison for these 12 teams in a bubble.

Notes:
1) I broke out 51-100 into 2 groups and just used the same results for both. It would obviously be better if I had the data for each group for comparison purposes.

2) I think it would be beneficial to add at least Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Oregon, Washington & Virginia Tech to the mix. Those 20 teams are the only teams who have played for the National Championship since 1998. It would also include the champions from 1991-1997.

3) Alabama is ridiculous.

Bama vacated all wins from 05-06 and the first 5 games of 07. The 240 accounts for this. Enjoy your victory I guess. It would be 261 otherwise.

Too bad, Bama. Cheaters never win.

These numbers are way off. The do not count vacated wins for Alabama, but they do count 4 seasons of vacated wins for LSU.

So if you want to ignore vacated wins, the real numbers are:

240-Alabama
205-LSU

And if you want to count the vacated wins, then the real numbers are:

256-Alabama
242-LSU

Based on the lack of consistency in the OP, I have to believe it's bullshite.

Too bad, Bama. Cheaters never win.

Ok. Feel free double checking all probation wins. It’s better to be accurate.

Well they won a bunch, however it was done.

I used to think Saban was like some sort of genius goat or something. The more this stuff comes out, he wasn't shite. He failed in the pros.

Send him back to West Virginia and let's forget about him.

Bama’s wins were vacated because a few players were selling textbooks. Not quite cheating but ok.

ETA: There was never any proof of them making money; however, they were using scholarship money to give “free” books to other students. It was completely stupid, but kids do stupid things.

The UGA win total over 100 years is shocking to me. Ahead of Texas, USC, Michigan, ND, Penn St, and Nebraska: all unquestioned blue bloods. If the only thing stopping UGA from being a blue blood with a century win total like that is national titles or some stretch of time where they were consistently at the peak of the game, then they have that now. Plus the iconic uniform/logo, famous mascot, destination campus, etc.

Blue blood application: Accepted.

OSU is the Bama and Georgia of the North? Is that your comparison? They are closer to UGA than Bama, because Saban went on a run that will never happen again in history. If you just count natties, nobody is in Bama’s class. But OSU is off to a good start in the new playoff format. It’s not easy accumulating natties.

My comment was more of a shot at Georgia, not tOSU. They're 1 of the teams that consistently have shown they can win across every decade, but have far less championships to show for it.

most impressive about that is LSU. They were in a brutal SEC West during that span

You can prove most anything with statistics.

I think this graphic is through the 2023 season, and shows some clear differences between the schools.

Using this graphic (listed right to left),
there is Top 3 of Ohio State, OU & Alabama.

A 2nd tier includes Michigan, ND, USC, Nebraska & Texas.

These 8 teams are the generally accepted "Blue Bloods" of College Football, 250+ weeks in AP Top 5, and 700 weeks ranked in the AP Poll.

A 3rd tier includes Penn State, Florida, Fl St, and Miami.

A 4th tier includes LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, UCLA, maybe Michigan State.

Georgia's performance the past ~ 10 years probably makes up close to half of their total weeks in the Top 5 AP Poll rankings, which is more indicative of recency bias rather than Blue Blood status.

Georgia Blue Blood application: Denied

If you're gonna use the polls then it needs to be fair. Points for final ranked finishes and points for wins over final ranked teams.

1. Alabama 1.5 (2nd and 1st)
2. Ohio State 2.5 (1st and 4th)
3. Oklahoma 3.0 (3rd and 3rd)
3. Notre Dame 3.0 (4th and 2nd)
5. USC 5.5 (6th and 5th)
6. Michigan 6.0 (5th and 7th)
7. Texas 6.5 (7th and 6th)
8. Tennessee 9.5 (10th and 9th)
9. Georgia 11.0 (11th and 11th)
9. LSU 11.0 (12th and 10th)
11. Florida 11.5 (15th and 8th)
11. Nebraska 11.5 (9th and 14th)
11. Penn State 11.5 (8th and 15th)
14. Auburn 13.0 (14th and 12th)
15. Florida State 14.5 (13th and 16th)
15. Miami 14.5 (16th and 13th)
17. UCLA 17.0 (17th and 17th)
18. Michigan State 18.5 (19th and 18th)
19. Washington 20.0 (21st and 19th)
20. Arkansas 21.5 (23rd and 20th)
21. Clemson 22.0 (18th and 26th)
22. Georgia Tech 22.5 (25th and 20th)
23. Ole Miss 23.0 (22nd and 24th)
