They play 8 in their regular season and the SEC plays 10. Add in the championship games and they play 9 and we play 11.
I'm not sure where this idea that they will play 9 and we will play 10 is coming from.

Maybe the confusion is because the rest of the league will play that week as well ? You know - unless they have five players test positive. Or Gretchen Whitmer just can't stand it anymore and commands Michigan to report to Governor's Mansion instead for a good spanking.
But you're right - the Big 10 champion will play, at most, nine games. The SEC champ will play, at most, eleven.
