Auburn was one game away from the playoff last year

USC is the biggest underachiever

LSU should maybe be doing better, but TX has been much worse (based on this list)

Charlie Strong, while not successful there was stocking the roster pretty well. They just canned him when it looked like he wasn't ever going to turn the corner. That then got them some new "buzz" with the Herman hire so it's time to see if he can do it

yeah, based on this list; TX could easily see the same type of quick turnaround that UGA has seen under both Richt and Smart

my guess is that the Longhorns wind up competing for the Big 12 by next year, and they might make a run this year

looks like Strong was meant to be a coordinator...

This list is tainted. Bama should be much higher.

LSU’s staff is bad, dragged down especially by the boat anchor HC.

Malzahn needs to stay at Allbarn forever.

I’m not sure what Mullen will do with that talent. He seems to be able to beat weak teams but can’t overcome others with more talent. To me that says he will be behind UGA 4 years out of 5. Kirby is a better coach and far better recruiter.

Tome Herman was scared to come to the SEC.

This is basically "Who needs to get a better coaching staff" list. LSU and Auburn have had way too much talent over the last few years not to be vying for the national title regularly. Both of them seem to be victims of spineless administrators.

Auburn went to the Natty in 2013. If we beat UGA a 2nd time we could've been in the playoffs this year. We've been in the top 10 at some point of every season under Gus. All while sharing a state and division with the most dominant program in the country. I think Auburn is in great shape.

Ummm, we were in the NCG in 2013. Last year beat 2 #1 teams and are most likely in the playoff if we don't blow the SECCG. That leaves 3 other years under the current coach that we were not in contention. Are you saying we should be in contention every single year with 3 other SEC teams ahead of us on this list? That is just stupid.

You did take into account that both have to play Bama each season? You also surely took into account the success Bama has had and continues to have?

How many West crowns would LSU have minus Saban at Bama? SEC Crowns? Nats?

Only because of coaching. But we still have a better chance than Moo U. (However, both have a chance of basically 0%)

The difference is, LSU is a good coaching hire away from a national championship. Moo U has hit their peak that they can ever hope to accomplish.

No sane person would ever suggest LSU doesn't routinely have elite talent. Elite coaching, however, continues to elude us.

Miss St is in a world of hurt if they think they are walking into Tiger Stadium and getting a win this year. Dave Aranda has that one marked down I promise you. We had like 5 healthy linemen going into that game last year and guys went down. We are deep as can be this year on the DL and things won't go well for the Dogs.

But we play three of the other teams on the list. Four of them last year.

Good stats . that is why Bayless is a an idiot ..bama loaded but by the slimmest of margins over a bunch of others. CFB is qb driven and bama rarely has a great qb...

Texas is on the list because they turned their roster over with a great and large class last year, and Strong recruited okay.

The 2017 class is killing A&M, but we'll be on that list next year, ir the following year at the latest.

Does it actually surprise anyone that the eventual champion will probably come from this list?

I doubt anyone from off this list wins the title.

Florida is at 42 percent, and the poor 2015 class (24 percent) will be coming off the books. With a strong class this year, UF could get back above 50 percent

Well, this sane person did not say that. This sane person was referring to the entire premise of the article and thread that states "these are the 13 teams that have a chance to win it all". I submit that neither Texas, nor LSU have ANY chance to win it all in 2018. I see 10 other down votes. To you 11 people, I would like to bet you all, at 20 to 1, that neither of these teams wins it all. That's a deal - you get 2 for the price of 1. Any takers?
