Walker is the best and it's not even close. The only people who disagree are salty Auburn fans who hate UGA more than Bama.

Georgia played a trash schedule during his time there. I found this gem from the 1981 schedule:
#carries - yards
30-161 vs. Tenn. (8-4)
35-167 vs. Cal (2-9)
28-111 vs. Clemson (12-0) *uga loss
36-176 vs. South Carolina (6-6)
41-265 vs. Ole Miss (4-6-1)
39-188 vs. Vandy (4-7)
33-129 vs. UK (3-8)
23-112 vs. Temple (5-5)
47-192 vs. UF (7-5)
37-165 vs. Auburn (5-6)
36-225 at Ga. Tech (1-10)
Walker made a career of racking up big yards against terrible teams. When he played good teams he often looked average.
For his career: He had 33 games and 994 rushes. That is over 30 carries a game against the juggernauts of teams with the records you see above.
Walker was a durable workhorse running back. But he was not elite. The NFL proved that to be a fact.

He retired 14th all time in rushing yards. And that doesn't count his 3 years in the USFL (an extra 5500 yards).
He retired from the NFL 2nd all time in all purpose yards. Again, that doesn't include his time in the USFL (
Over 7,000 more yards).
Missing the best years of his career and still putting those numbers is in the elite NFL category.

Walker played very soft vs Penn St in natty game in 82.

137 yards on 27 touches with 2 touchdowns.
Not a great day. But I wouldn't call that soft.
