Notables within reach for Spurrier ...
With 16 more wins Spurrier will become the only coach in College Football history to win over 100 games at two different FBS schools.
Does he stay at SC long enough to do so?
With 28 more SEC wins, Spurrier will tie The Bear for most SEC wins. (Entering this season Spurrier has 131 and The Bear 159)
Does he stay at SC long enough to do so?
With this season and next, Spurrier would be at SC 12 years, (few, outside of SC, gave him five when he first came to SC).
Would he stay at SC as long, or longer, than he did his alma mater?
Okay, now, Most SEC wins ... (taken from the 2015 Press Guides)
1. The Bear (Kentucky/Bama) - 159-46-9 (37 Seasons)
2. The HBC (Florida/SCAR) - 131-48 (22 Seasons - Active)
3. Johnny Vaught (Ole Miss) - 106-41-10 (24 Seasons)
4. Vince Dooley (Georgia) - 105-41-4 (22 Seasons)
5. Ralph "Shug" Jordan (Auburn) - 99-65-4 (24 Seasons)
6. Phillip Fulmer (Tennessee) - 98-36 (17 Seasons)
7. Nick Saban (LSU/Bama) - 85-24 (13 Seasons - Active)
8. Mark Richt (Georgia) - 80-37 (14 Seasons - Active)
9. Gen. Robert Neyland (Tennessee) - 62-15-5 (14 Seasons)
10. Frank Thomas (Alabama) - 59-16-6 (13 Seasons)
11. Les Miles (LSU) - 58-26 (10 Seasons - Active)
Again, does Spurrier stay at SCAR long enough to catch or pass The Bear?
Does Saban stay at Bama long enough to catch, or pass, either The HBC or The Bear? If not, when does he stop? When he passes Vaught and cements himself at #3?
How far does Richt move-up before he hangs up his coaching shorts?
And finally, can Les catch Fulmer and Shug?
These are worthy questions. It's the final day of the off-season 2015.
Bonus Question:
These coaches have catchy nicknames that will stick forever:
The Bear
The HBC
Johnny
The General
Shug
The Mad Hatter
Assign a catchy nickname that sticks to one, or more, of the following coaches:
Vince Dooley
Phillip Fulmer
Nick Saban
March Richt
Frank Thomas

Saban won't beat it, sources say he is retiring after this year. I read it on the internet.

I think SC is an average 4 SEC win a year team. So it would take about 7 years. I'm not sure Spurrier coaches to age 77.
I say he comes up short of Bryant's SEC win total and SC might even suffer if he tries to stretch his career just to get it.

So the list gives Neyland credit only for wins in the official "SEC" and not its predecessor, but lists all 21 of his seasons, as if it took him that long to get 62 wins.

Yes, he should get this in 2-3 years even with mediocre to bad seasons. I think he gets this one.

Good point ... revision coming. He only coached 14 seasons in the SEC (two different times). I actually caught that with Frank Thomas but dropped the ball on Neyland. Mea culpa. His other seasons while at Bama were Southern Conference.

Well, it did the same for Bryant.

I think Saban catches Vaught in SEC wins, but not Spurrier or Bryant.

Miles will win 10 a year for the next 4 seasons, and jump into the top 5.
Saban will be 3rd. Richt won't be in the top 5 because he will be fired.

I think Bryant only coached 33 years in the SEC. 8 at UK and 25 at Bama.

SEC used to only play 6-8 conference games a season. Records should start to fall with more games being played now.

Would be impressive to win 10 out of a possible 9 (8 not including SECCG) games every year.

Fun fact: Lesticles in the only coach to coach in 10 SEC games in the same season.
He has done it before, with one more win he could feasibly win 10 SEC games in a season.

The HBC questions are tough ones. He is in great shape for a man his age but you have to wonder if the desire is still there.
I think he has a good shot at 16 more wins before he is done. 28 might be a bit out of his reach right now. 24 seasons combined is my guess, 12 and 12 at the respective schools.
I don't think Saban stays at Bama long enough to catch Spurrier. He's starting to get that frazzled look about him. I would say Vaught is in reach for him though. Richt could easily wind up in the top 3 or 4, possibly higher. He's in good shape, he wins just enough games to keep from getting fired, and he's likely to pile up 8-10 wins a season on autopilot.
Les can certainly catch up to Shug and Fulmer. It is a pressure cooker job though and sooner or later he's going to get tired of it.
Les already has the nickname of the Mad Hatter, but how about Les "The Lawn Mower" Miles?

I think Charles McClendon should be at #10 on your list as he had 60 SEC wins.

That 10th one was a doozy. Should have stopped at 9, like Saban did!

How is it possible that Miles notches 10 SEC wins a year ... ?
