At this point I don't get why he keeps putting that narrative out other than to maybe troll bama. Lane was looking to leave last year for Florida and they didn't Fire Napier. Once they did he was gone to Florida until LSU game open. Think it was sexton more than anyone that pushed lsu but it really came down to kiffin not liking Strickland. If Florida had a different AD I think Layla and Steve Spurrier would have had him in Gainesville

This is evidence that Saban doesn't like Kiffin.

He did fire him.

Ole Miss's beef with Saban should be more about Saban saying Ole Miss should have allowed Kiffin to coach the CFP when Saban fired Kiffin in the exact same scenario for not being professional enough to handle the situation. Did he forget having to fire Kiffin before the championship game?

I think Saban is allowed to make his own picks, though.

“My biggest regret in life was leaving LSU”

Nick Saban's buyout at Alabama was $0. He could have left at any time.

So why didn't LSU hire him back?

Has Saban admitted that he actually said this? I mean, Saban literally told Lane to frick OFF and fired his arse in 2016 the week of the NC game.

Yet, his perception was that he could only win a natty at a school like LSU because of what they had done in the pre-portal/NIL era. The game has changed dramatically, and, as Indiana just proved--a program that had the worst record in college football--anyone can win a natty anywhere.

Even in this new era, you'll have a hard time convincing most people that it's just as easy to attract elite talent to Ole Miss as it is to LSU. The financial backing, facilities, and in-state HS football talent all favor LSU.

But the gap has closed somewhat, I don't think there's any debate about that.
