his reputation isn't going to be "ruined" to anyone other than Ole Miss fans and a few Karens
Lane is the Karen of the coaches. Straight Karen nepo baby behavior at every step of the way for him.
There’s already a consensus in media/public/etc he’s unprofessional in what he’s doing. I guess except with Saban who has to be paid to say good things about Lane/LSU. Lane has carefully curated his “new” image at OM. He cares about what everyone thinks of him. Making him sit out of egg bowl would be an embarrassment and wipe out all the work he’s done to his image at OM. Sending those bad vibes with him to LSU and plenty of ammo for everyone on the recruiting trail against him is OM best play here

Message boards and fans have mostly created this drama.
This is complete and utter bullshite. He's done his best to trash the fans, even with straight up lies, and boosters have said that he has insulted them directly to their faces. Coaches are mad at him. He's acting a bit insane. But you're going to continue that this is an Ole Miss problem because you would otherwise have to admit that he is about to be your problem. Enjoy

How exactly has he trashed the fans or insulted the boosters? By not signing your extension?

The last thing we are going to do is pay him his buyout. I have no doubt that after the Egg Bowl they can reassign him to other duties per his contract. He's not coaching in the CFP. That ship has sailed.

Sure, pretty much all of these are bad ideas. Like it or not, he has Ole Miss by the balls. That's why all this talk of "trolling" LSU or Florida is nonsensical, Ole MIss is the one with the most to lose here.
If he is too fricking stupid to know if he wants to stay or go by Saturday, after having about a month to decide, then I want him gone sooner rather than later.
If he stays then great. He can say that he has told everyone that millions of times that he doesn't discuss other jobs during the season. If he leaves then fine. We move on without him. If he refuses to give an answer, then that is our answer.

Then Lane comes out and says he actually wanted to stay at Ole Miss and they forced him out, so Ole Miss looks like a clown school.

I don't what people actually expect him to do. He's said he'll make a decision after the season and people are now trashing him for not making a decision quicker.

I'm sure he'll make a decision after the Egg Bowl, just like he's said all along. Again, people are getting pissed that he didn't make a decision quicker when he's said all along that it'd be at the end of the season.

How the frick do you not know? Im not about to type it all out. But the quickest example was hit taking a shot at the fanbase about the Citadel crowd after the Florida game. Citadel was an 11am game against a shite opponent and the stadium was 95% full. We had more fans there than you did in either of your last 2 games. He's a fricking retard and a liar. And youre a fricking retard for thinking this is all just about the extension. frick off man

I don't keep track of every little thing that Ole Miss fans feel slighted over.

You seem very emotional.

If he really cared about staying and coaching Ole Miss to a championship then he would have already signed that extension. Nobody blames him for being kissed on the lips by ambition and consider some more high profile jobs. There is a right and wrong way to do it though.

Here's some reading you can do. This guy doesn't hold back and gets why fans are pissed 100%

There's a reason why Saban called Lane a "narcissistic piece of shite."

After doing some research, it seems like he called out your student section after the Washington State game (not The Citadel) and multiple articles mentioned a lot of empty seats.

And if you think Lane is going to sit there with LSU and sing Kumbaya for a few years then LOL. Once he thinks the LSU brand becomes bigger than the Kiffin brand, he will absolutely tear y'all down and make a scene so that everyone looks at him instead.

I responded to the OP saying we have no recourse if he insists on coaching the playoffs without signing a contract. Then you decided to start arguing with me.
Are you stupid or do you just act stupid?

Go watch the press conference after the Florida game.
Posted on 11/24/25 at 1:12 am to RebelBearShark
That's not true. He can be reassigned to other duties. So he's not coaching the playoffs.

I don't think he believes he can actually win a championship there, because as you said, he'd just sign the extension and do it.

What could he really do different here?

Lane is a loose cannon, I have no illusions of anything with him.

Definitely no scenario where he’s paid a buyout.
I just don’t get why you would let him coach the egg bowl. It’s lose-lose for OM. There’s a reason why Lane begged for one more week
Win egg bowl with Lane: “Well, I got you guys to the playoffs. Can’t be too mad at me.” -Kiffin……The narrative will be that the greatest OM season ever was only possible with Lane Kiffin coach of lsu
Lose egg bowl with Kiffin: “We had a great year. I leave as the best coach ever at OM. I did my best and it just wasn’t enough. I tried. “ -Kiffin…….meanwhile people blame him for the distractions causing the loss. But at the end of the day OM misses the playoffs and he’s let off the hook for bailing on a playoff team.
Win egg bowl without Kiffin: interim staff gets good experience coaching the players before they go do it in the playoffs.
Lose egg bowl without Kiffin: just blame it all on the distractions leading up to it

What can they really do? Suspend him and push him out? Then Ole Miss looks bad.
