Ive been impressed with the student attendance thus far. Yea it lacked a little bit the other night when it was 45 degrees with wind and rain but wasnt that bad. Gotta say that I disagree with ole Dick on that one. Our other 3 home games, the SS has been slammed when the players run out of the tunnel, which hasnt always been the case.
The majority of the board speaks on popular opinion instead of actually knowledge. They still stay we don't grill in the grove and only serve cold Walmart tenders

And I'm assuming that he thinks everyone that has a rebel flag does so solely because they hate black people. It has nothing to do with our team being the rebels (which is named so because the entire school left to fight for the confederacy).
I'm by no means saying these are good things, but frick you for automatically assuming they would put up a flag just to offend black people. Hell, our state flag still has the confederate flag on it.

I've never seen one in Fayetteville on gameday. You can roll your eyes all you want. And you don't have to look too hard to find black and latino tailgaters.
It just shows me that you don't know anything about Fayetteville, and that you want to believe that your little racist khaki party is normal.

Maybe its because your school had a notorious riot upon integration that its still offensive.
Little Rock had its problems, but the University of Arkansas admitted its first black student in 1941 if you want to compare.
Like I said, you guys can drape it in "class" all you want, but its obvious your pretensions of exclusivity have everything to do with race. Scratch the surface, and its just white trash good ole boys.

quote:Read it again. I was asking about black folks in greater Oxford, not on campus. Anyone can look up the enrollment numbers if that is what you're interested in. I was just amazed at how white Oxford was, given my experience living in the old Confederacy (Marshall was around at the time of the Civil War, and that portion of East Texas has a very high percentage of black population--I was surprised that Oxford was different).
This is terribly ironic coming from an A&M fan. We have nearly 15% black student body, Texas A&M is 3% black. Why the frick does it matter anyway? Did you make a point to count all the black folks there to prove some type of notion in your head?

So, let me get this straight. We dress nice and all the other grove stuff we do because we think it will keep the blacks out? Is that what you're saying?

No, it's in bad taste. Honestly, the pig is lying though. I've been to Arky and they have them there too.

you is a fricking idiot
I grew up close to Oxford and know a lot of people from Oxford and the surrounding area and I honestly can't think of one truly racist person that goes to Ole Miss or is a fan.
One drunk idiot is not a good representative of the students and fans

What's hilarious is he's talking all this shite, yet northwest arkansas has a tiny black population. You know why? Because all the white residents in northwest arkansas forcefully prevented black from moving there all the way up until the 70s.

This.
It may not be racist and I don't personally care if you do it, though I do think some use it in that manner, but it does offend plenty of black people. The fact that it does so should be enough for most. And is enough for most. But apparently not certain places.
It may be a poor analogy but I cannot think of a better one at this time, but it's akin to my calling you a retard and someone with a son or daughter who has down syndrome being offended. My intention was certainly not to offend that person, but the fact that it does should make me think of a different way to express my disagreeing with you. Similarly, there are other ways to show Southern pride.

Boone county Arkansas, specifically Harrison city has a white supremacists compound. It's still active. Check under additional information

There is a line that cuts all the way across arkansas from the missouri bootheel all the way to texas that racially divides the state. Probably more drastically than any other state.

Arkansas is the bastion of racial equality.
That Arky, SW MO, OK, NW TX area is frightening from what I remember from the counter terrorism class I took at OM. Easy A and really interesting if you get the chance.

State is right behind us in OOS students btw. Second in the SEC
Really? I don't know, but I have heard that State is starting to get some of the "can't get into UGA" students from Georgia like OM has been getting. Maybe we are.
When I was at State a long time ago, it seemed like any student from Florida was automatically cooler just because he was from a more exotic place. Really even for students from Atlanta, Dallas, etc.
I doubt it's the same now, but when you're from Shuqualak or Shubuta, Mississippi, then those place might still seem exotic.
